Grounding Fittings

All Copper Alloy Ground Connectors Specification Grade

Type ABG

Use:For cable connection parallel or at right angles to pipe or rod.

Features:• A high strength corrosion-resistant copper alloy ground connector connecting a ground wire either parallel or at right angles to a ground rod or pipe.• A positive ground is assured by the clamp-ing pressure that can be applied by the high strength silicon bronze U-bolt, nuts and lock washers.• Type ABG connectors are suitable for direct burial. • For ground pipe larger than 11⁄2” use Type CG Ground Connector shown on Page MA7.

Grounding Fittings


Type CG

Use:• For cable connection either parallel or at right angle to pipe. • A high strength corrosion-resistant copper alloy ground connector having a reversible contact plate which permits the ground wire to be connected either at right angles or parallel to a ground pipe. • The fitting is designed so that the saddle can be installed before the ground connection is made. • High strength silicon bronze hardware permits high clamping pressures to be applied.• For ground pipe smaller than 2” use Type ABG shown on page MA6.• Type CG connectors are suitable for direct burial.

Grounding Fittings


Type TG

Use:This ground connector is used for grounding “H” column fence posts. Its design eliminates the need for drilling the post.To attach, loosen the nut sufficiently to allow the end of the “J” bolt to slip over the flange, assemble the cable into the fitting and then tighten.

Material/Finish:The current carrying parts are of cast copper alloy. The “J” bolt, nut and washer are Hot Dip Galvanized steel.

Type RGFor braid or copper bar to pipe.

Use:This Ground Connector is designed to connect flat copper braid or copper bar to a pipe. A copper alloy body and silicon bronze bolt, nut and lock washers, combine strength and corrosion-resistance, insuring a positive mechanical and electrical connection.

Use:For connecting two parallel cables of the same or varying sizes to any flat surface. Installation of connectors is simplified by HEX-CUP construction. Cables are gripped by the interlocking clamp, used throughout the line of ground devices. Copper alloy body and silicon bronze bolts, nuts and lock washers make a completely corrosion resistant fitting and permit high pressure to be applied - insuring a positive ground con-nection. The two Types LG and MG differ only in the number of fastening bolts as shown.

Type QG

Use:This Ground Connector affords a means of connecting a cable to a flat surface. The ground conductor is looped in the groove of the fitting and clamped securely by the pressure plate. The high copper content of this fitting insures high conductivity and the silicon bronze bolt, nut and lock washer complete the corrosion-resistant fitting.

Type VG

Use:These ground connectors are attached to a ground cable in the floor or wall base, and after the concrete is poured a 2” x 2” flat plate is left exposed flush with the surface. The connectors may be located at pre-determined locations, or if set at intervals throughout the floor or wall base, a ground pad id always readily available for grounding electrical equipment.
