COMPETITIVE SPIRIT
Maybe you don’t play
sports, but that doesn’t
mean you don’t have a com-
petitive side. You’d be sur-
prised at your determination
level when you’re just about
ready to skip that last set of
squats only to see your
friend sweating beside with
no sign of giving up. To push
yourself even more, we sug-
gest racing when going for a
run. The winner gets treated
to a post workout snack.
2EXTRA MOTIVATION
The worst is when you
know you “should”
workout, but you just don’t
feel like it. Say goodbye to
those days when you have
a workout buddy! Knowing
you have a friend waiting for
you at the gym or outside
for a run will change your
mindset. It can be so easy
to skip out on your fitness
routine and just stay in bed,
but friends can be a huge
motivator when it comes to
sticking with your workout
regimen.
3MAKE FITNESS FUN
Sometimes working
out can get a bit repet-
itive and dare we say it, a lit-
tle boring. By adding a
friend into the mix, exercis-
ing can be more enjoyable
than being by yourself.
Fitness with a good gal pal
is a great way to catch up
and chit chat, making an
hour long run seem like five
minutes. Time tends to fly by
faster when you have some-
one to talk to.
So grab your bestie and head on
over to the gym!
With the New Year right around the corner, it’stime to start gearing up your fitness routine and
what better way to do so than with a friend?Having a workout partner can mean the difference
between success and failure when it comes to your fitness goals. Here are 3 great reason to
enlist your BFF to help you get moving.

Weight Loss
1Eat before you go. With endless
amounts of food and drinks, holiday
parties can be a nightmare for people
trying to stay fit. One of the most important
rules is to make sure you eat beforehand.
Hungry people are more likely to head
straight for first edible thing in sight. If you
have a snack before you go, you’ll be able
to survey the buffet table and make better
and healthier decisions
2Find the greens. Many events will
have platters full of veggies and
salad. You should make your way
over to the green side of the table and load
up your plate with healthy options. That way
you’re less likely to have room on your plate,
or in your stomach, for greasy, fatty and
sugary foods.
3Socialize! The holidays are a time to
spend with family and friends, not
waiting by the kitchen for the next
appetizer to come out. Quit stuffing your
face; mingle with everyone instead of stop-
ping at every food table.
4Carry a glass of water. The alcohol
may be flowing nonstop during the
festivities but these are liquid calories
that can lead to quick weight gain. You
don’t need liquor to have a good time, so
your best bet is to always have a glass of
H20 on hand to keep you from heading to
the bar. But if you must have a drink, try
opting for a wine-spritzer instead of that
fatty eggnog.
5Indulge. Cakes, pies, cookies, oh my!
The dessert table spread is usually
the most anticipated and hazardous
of the night, but don’t be afraid. There is no
harm in indulging a little if you see a freshly
baked cookie tray calling your name. The
key is to always walk away after
you've helped yourself.
5 Ways to SUrvIve Holiday PartiesWithout Packing on the Pounds
