Due to the February winter storms, the IRS has announced that

Texas residents filing date has been extended. Texas residents will

have until June 15 to file individual and business income taxes. If

you have been worried that you will not get them done on time, this

will give you a little breathing room.

If you have a computer and want to do your taxes yourself, you may

be able to use a free filing program from this IRS website at:

https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/

This IRS webpage offers multiple free tax programs to choose from.

Another New In-Person Activity— ‘Talk & Tails’ at the Dog Park

‘Talk & Tails’ at the Dog Park A TC Seniors Meet-Up Activity

Mon-Wed-Fri 8:30—9:30am

Tue-Thu 4:00—5:00pm

4000 E. Lake Highlands Drive

When Amy took her new puppy to the PAWSOME Playground Dog Park in The Colony, she expected her puppy to enjoy it. However, she had no idea how much fun she would have. As it turns out, seniors and other friendly folk take their dogs to the park everyday. They visit and talk with one another and enjoy the time out in the fresh air. She enjoyed it so much, we are organizing time for seniors to meet up at the park. While you are free to go to the park anytime it is open, we thought it might be nice to designate one time a day that you might see a familiar face. So plan to take your pup to play in the park and enjoy some time doing a little walking in the fresh air and visiting with friends.

Seniors and Their Dogs Love TC PAWSOME Playground Benefits!

Let’s face it, dogs were built to run and jump. It’s in their DNA. Unfortunately, many times they are confined indoors, are ex-pected to take leisurely walks at a senior pace or, if they are lucky, enjoy outings in a small back yard. Many, if not most sen-iors, do not have a big enough space for dogs to release all of their pent-up energy. With a dog park like The Colony’s PAW-SOME Playground, they can run, jump and play most any time of day - safely. It’s nice to see cities like The Colony, multi-family communities and even senior-adult communities now making accommodations by adding a place for dogs to play freely. However, we tend to assume that dog parks are for the benefit of our beloved dogs, but experienced dog park users know better. Dog parks offer just as many, if not more benefits to hu-mans as they do to dogs: How can we all benefit from dog parks? Here are just a few examples:

People say, 'I never knew my neighbors or people in my community until I went to the dog park.' You meet all these wonderful people because you immediately have one thing in common...a dog.

Off-leash parks are outdoor ‘Community Centers’ for people just as much as for canines. Our dogs facilitate friendly inter-actions among people. So much so, that some owners schedule specific times to meet-up at the dog park.

Fenced-In dog parks also offer the opportunity for humans to get some well needed exercise while their dogs run and play.

The Colony’s PAWSOME Playground features a 0.85 acre small dog area and 2.1 acre large dog area. Approximately 7 laps around the small dog area and 4 laps around the large dog area equal 1 mile. Amenities include shaded seating areas, benches throughout the park, dog waste stations, trash receptacles, drinking fountain including a dog bowl, decorative fire hydrants and a 6 foot chain link fence surrounding the park. Galaxy Theatres at Grandscape is opening early Friday just for us, 2 hours before they open to the public. Movie synopsis: A top-drawer dramedy about a band of English retirees in India and the challenges and transfor-mations they undergo. Some British retirees (Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy) decide to outsource their retirement to exotic -- and less expensive -- India. Lured by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and imagining a life of leisure in lush surroundings, they arrive and find that the Marigold is actually a shell of its former self. Though their new home is not quite what they had imagined, the retirees find that life and love can begin again when they let go of their pasts. Register by calling 972-624-2246.
