What are you reading now and why? A River Runs Through It, I love fly-fishing and a friend gave me the book after I spoke about the impact the movie had on me. Which books have had the most influence on your lifestyle and philosophy? Forrest Gump by Winston Groom, not easy to read but the way the movie portrayed the book absolutely captivated me. Shibumi by Trevanian, I admired the lead character’s strength and independence. The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer, after reading what this guy went through I promised myself I won’t easily complain again. Reflections of a Fly Fisherman by Tom Suthcliff, you lose track of time when you are fly fishing. Which author would you most like to meet and why? Richard Bach, author of Illusions. I would love to know where his concept of “life” and how to live it, comes from...he makes it sound so uncomplicated. Which book/s did you love best as a child? The Pirate of Ultan Ha by Heinz G. Konsalik. At the age of ten the thought of a modern day pirate, fishing in his “off” time when he’s not knocking off the bad guys seemed to be very appealing. I loved the National Geographic Magazines for their photographs and wildlife articles. What is your all time favourite book? Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, proof that reality exceeds the imagination! How are the books on your shelves organised – or aren’t they? I usually get rid of a book after reading it by giving it to someone I think might enjoy it. The ones I keep are the self development and “get rich quick” stuff.....not fair to inflict that kind of punishment on anybody by giving it to them! Where is your favourite place to read? On the train and bus.
