LRPC Children’s Ministry, led by newly appointed volunteer Children’s Ministry Director, Brea Duty

LRPC Children’s Ministry exists to glorify God and help the entire body of Christ to assist families

in raising their children to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, so the next generation will know,

believe, and tell of “the glorious deeds of the Lord” and “set their hope in God” (Psalm 78: 4, 7).

Brea has attended LRPC since Spring of 2015, having been a previous member of Faith Christian

Fellowship, PCA and Chapelgate PCA after graduating college in 2005. Shortly after attending LRPC, Brea

began helping Jo Beck with the nursery and preschool Sunday School classes. In 2020, Brea completed

the 13-month Children’s Ministry (CM) Certification from the PCA Committee on Discipleship Ministries

(CDM). This was a mostly online program taught by CM leaders in the PCA covering topics such as

Reformed and Covenantal theology, child development, curriculum, church & family, disability ministry,

and worship training to name a few. Brea has also attended the 3-day PCA CDM CM Leadership Training

Retreat for the past 3 years at Ridge Haven in Brevard, North Carolina where she finds enthusiasm,

resources, worship, prayer, and encouragement to soldier on in this journey. This year’s retreat was just

last week where Brea received her Certification certificate at a small graduation ceremony.

Having not grown up in the church, yet desiring to teach her 3 children the ways of their covenant

keeping God, Brea felt ill-equipped and hungry for resources and wisdom. Feeling the nudge of the Lord

to step into leadership has not been an easy transition as she would much rather stand in the wings than

be center stage! In 2020, a newly formed CM Team began meeting to evaluate current ministry to

children at LRPC and look to the future. In the coming months, the CMT looks forward to sharing the

vision for CM, while praying that God lays it on your heart to tell the coming generation of the glorious

deeds of the Lord. Stay tuned for parent/teacher ministry training, coming in August, and keep praying

for God to capture the souls of our youngest members as they grow up in an ever-changing and

increasingly hostile world. May God bless this ministry and make resilient disciples of this next

generation.
