“Thank you.” In an emergency, whether minor or critical, our focus
is on the patient and ailment that sent themto the health carefacility in the firstplace. We often forgetto thank thehealthcareprofessionals who provided the care ourloved ones desperately needed. TheLongview Chamber of Commerce seeks tosay those two simple words, “thank you,” toall of the men and women who make up thehealthcare profession in Gregg County. TheSalute to Healthcare awards luncheon isfrom 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March23, at Pinecrest Country Club. While we
salute the entire healthcare community, our focus will be on three specialindividuals. These individuals have been
nominated by theirpeers, patients, andfamily. A nominatingcommittee thennarrowed the
competition down to three in eachcategory of Healthcare Professional,Volunteer, and the Dr. Sam Mack LifetimeAchievement Award. The chambermembership then voted on the finalselections. Please join us as we celebratetheir remarkable accomplisments andcontributions to our community. Call 903-237-4000 to make your reservations today.

We cannot overstate the value of the many volunteers
that help our One Hundred Acres of Heritage Main
Street Program in Longview. Volunteers are important to the
success of all programs of the Longview Chamber of
Commerce and CVB but especially so with Main Street.
The Main Street Program is designed to be a volunteer
driven program. The initiatives and objectives come from the
volunteer corps and not necessarily from a guide book or staff.
It is the planning of the volunteers working on one of four
teams that have brought success to Longview’s Main Street
effort.
ORGANIZATION – This team’s responsibility is to build
consensus and cooperation among the many groups and
individuals in the Longview community who have a role in
the revitalization process. They work to market Main Street
and its goals to the community and recruit new volunteers
and members.
PROMOTION – Marketing Longview’s downtown assets to
customers, potential investors, new businesses, local citizens
and visitors is the main role of this committee. This team also
works to market the downtown as a “fun” and exciting place
to visit and shop through annual events and retail promotions.
DESIGN – This team works toward enhancing the
appearance of downtown by capitalizing on its assets and
heritage. Rehabilitating historic buildings; encouraging
sensitive new construction; developing design guidelines,
and long term planning are all the responsibility of Design.
ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING – This team works toward
strengthening downtown’s economic base while finding
ways to create new opportunities for development. The
team looks at ways to improve the retail mix in the Main
Street district, and develop stability in downtown
Longview as a major component of the community’s
economic health.
Volunteers help us to attain our goals and objectives.
Main Street is always looking for volunteers, no matter
how big or small the contribution. Volunteer participation
helps bring about positive results for downtown and
makes our mission a reality. If you want to make our
downtown an even better place to live, work, and play,
then we would like for you to be a part of our growing
team. Contact our office if you are interested in becoming a
member of our team – 903-237-4040 or 903-237-4000.
