Lois Lerner IRS Email Scandal The Parade of Clowns

How the Obama Administration Used Public Office to Pursue an Illegal Private Agenda

Followed by a Textbook Exercise in Plausible Incompetence and Exploitation of Legal Loopholes to Hoodwink the US

Public and Avoid Responsibility

The Parade of Clowns

» The IRS, under the Obama Administration, targets the Tea Party with “culture of arrogance and impunity.” How shocking that the Democratic Party would behave in this manner.

» Word gets out, and then a computer crash “happens in the past.” Was this reported before? (of course not). How convenient.

» “Recycled back-up tapes,” What a coincidence. (Lesson from Nixon: get rid of the tape)

» A Government Official invokes the Fifth Amendment to stonewall US Congress? Politics 101: “It is much better to be thought an idiot, then to open your mouth and prove yourself guilty of a crime.”

» Lois Lerner “quietly retires from the Agency” (with full pension), really? How convenient.

» Another quiet retirement? In his final day in office before returning to the private sector, Obama-nominated U.S. attorney in Washington Ronald Machen declines to prosecute? The reason? Executive discretion.

» An illegal agenda, covered by two “highly coincidental” fuck-ups, immediately followed by two timely retirements… anyone smell a rat yet?

The Parade of Clowns

Don’t Bother Asking… Where is Waldo?Ask Yourself… Who Killed Waldo?

IRS Public Statements“Lerner’s computer crashed in 2011, losing an unknown number of her emails over the prior two years.”

“Prior to May 2013, these backups were retained on tape for six months, and then for cost-efficiency, the backup tapes were released for re-use.”

All the emails in question [never mind where you might look] are therefore unavailable.

A Few Simple Questions…Recipients of Lois Lerner’s emails also have a copy of everything she sent… did all of their computers crash in 2011 as well?

Back-up storage tapes are extremely inexpensive: is over-writing tapes of sensitive material a “Government Best Practice”?

For the rest of us, over-writing back-ups tapes is in direct violation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Current Status?

» The Treasury inspector general for tax administration (TIGTA) said it found roughly 6,400 emails either to or from Lerner sent between 2004 and 2013, emails that the IRS failed to turn over to lawmakers.

» IRS Response: “The IRS will continue to cooperate with the Inspector General and the congressional committees to complete work in this area, and we look forward to the results to determine what additional steps the IRS can take to ensure that we continue to improve our processes.”

» The key phrase in the IRS attorney’s curated response? “continue to improve our processes.” This means that the IRS and the Obama Administration will continue to rely primarily on incompetence as their primary means of defense.

» And Congress actively continues the search for “intent” …
