Introduction
RedLine13 brings load testing to the Cloud. It provides a free (almost) service that helps to setup and deploy load
testing instances in Amazon account. Payment has to be done for the load testing part of this on the spot instances -
hence the ‘almost’. For example, when running a load test with 200 m1.small Load Agent Servers, hitting the
application or site, you can manage them as spot instances and it will cost about $2.00 for an hour. This will allow you
to emulate 50,000 users continuously, providing load. RedLine13 provide you with real-time graphs and reports for
which no payment is required.
This user guide explains how developers and testers can perform load testing of their applications using RedLine 13
tool. It also addresses, how JMeter can be interested with RedLine 13.
Load Testing a Website using RedLine13
1. Go to https://www.redline13.com/

2. Sign in with valid credentials.
3. Enter URL to be tested.

4. Select number of users you are simulating, iterations and min/max of random delay.
5. Optionally, select size and location of your servers.
6. Optionally, select if you would like to gather your results files.
7. Start the test.
8. After the test is completed, you get different result metrics and graphs for the test.

Integrating JMeter with RedLine13
RedLine13 provide users with an option of running JMeter test scripts from RedLine13. Using this method, the load
can be applied from desired number of servers thus, replicating a real life scenario.
1. Go to JMeter test option.

2. Select the required JMX files and CSV files required for running the test.
3. Start the test and the results can be viewed in the same way as for normal test.
Conclusion RedLine13 is considered to be a useful and effective tool for the immediate performance testing needs. The output
that you yield is commendable. You can create your tests in JMeter and then, load test with RedLine13 in a prompt
manner. It is a flexible pricing model and hence, affordable. RedLine13 is easy to setup and also, schedule tests. You
have the advantage of detailed documentation and active technical support.
