After enjoying one of the best snow years on record this past winter, we are excitedto put our skis away and our flip-flops on.

Southwest Montana has a fresh perspective and relaxed atmosphere in summer. Locals and visitors alike enjoy meandering down to the Gallatin River for its Blue Ribbon trout fishing and whitewater rafting, hiking through the wildflower meadows in Beehive Basin, or taking a day trip through Yellowstone National Park to see the geysers and abundant wildlife. While these natural attractions remain a draw, the growing urban life of Bozeman and Big Sky is fueling the economy and creating investment opportunities for those who are looking to make this lifestyle their own.

Big Sky is showing a recovered, healthy market with sustainable growth encouraged by new ownership and mergers completed in the major area resorts. It is now building on a foundation of a strengthened community and is a great value in the Rocky Mountain west. After the first half of 2014, prices have increased by ~6%, with a relatively low inventory, creating a sweet spot in a risk-reward ratio. The lower average price per sq. ft on luxury homes than competing resorts such as Vail and Jackson, combined with great access to recreation has also helped spur sales, with double the number of residence sales compared to the top of the market in 2007.

At L&K, we are very thankful for the relationships developed over the past two years. In this short amount of time, the reaction of the market has been incredible, with our exposure reaching over 17 million people in the past year. We have had great success working as a team representing developers, buyers and sellers throughout the region including Yellowstone Club, Spanish Peaks, Moonlight Basin and Bridger Canyon, completing almost $19 million in sales since the beginning of 2014.
