GET READY TO EATBring your appetite, because amazing food will be a delicious part of your adventure in Rome. Here are some of our favorite spots.

PizzaPizza is part of every student’s experience in the eternal city. Of course you’ll want to sample the huge diversity of flavors, starting with classics like Margherita, with tomatoes, mozzarella and fresh basil. We recommend Emma Pizzeria. It’s the perfect place for a casual dinner with friends.

Gelato (a.k.a. ice cream)Just a stone’s throw from the UW Rome Center is Fatamorgana, a delicious and creative gelateria. Chef-owner Maria Agnese offers inventive flavors like Cioccolato Kentucky (chocolate and tobacco) and Seada (Pecorino, honey and orange).

WHAT STUDENTS SAY

The classes were all rolled up into one journey through the streets of Rome and delved into the history, architecture, art and poetry of the city. We writers walked everywhere with notebooks and pens in hand and put the city and how we experienced it into words as best we could. It was a creative adventure every day! - Maya Paschal, English major

Going into it, I had no idea how much it would impact me. In addition to deepening my technical, research and communications skills, the program also boosted my appre-ciation of engineering history. It’s one thing to read about engineering principles and projects in textbooks, but it’s a much more meaningful experience to visit places where you can see such activity in action, or at least the evidence of it. - Agustin Castro, Industrial Engineering major
