WOW! – Wonders of Water with Healthy Habits for Brownies
Session: # 2: Water for All
Session Time: 45 minutes
Introduction to what the girls will be doing this session: During this session girls will choose how to protect water and explore importance of eating a variety of food to protect their bodies and give them energy to grow strong and healthy. Ha ve a conversa tion with the g irls on Energ y Ba la nce
Sometimes humans need a little more energy than at other times. An example might be an athlete may eat more (Energy In) because they are training for their sport and will need to use a lot more energy. Your energy needs will change from day to day and from person to person.
Time 5 minutes
Can you think of a time that your may have needed more energy than you normally do? Give some examples. (A swimming race or going for a hike). Activity 1: Protecting Water
Time: 5 minutes
*Water Drop Handouts, scissors, crayons, pencils Material Needed for this activity:
Handout a copy of a water drop to each girl. Have crayons and pencils available.
• Ask girls to fill in or decorate their water drop with how they will chose to protect water • Once complete, ask them to share how they will each protect water • Add to WOW Map from 1st

Activity 2: Team WOW Map (Nutrition)
Time: 30 minutes

Here , MyPlate Sample Meal Photo Graphics Here , MyPlate template handouts Here, crayons, glue, masking tape, grocery store flyers and scissors
• Show MyPlate colored picture. Explain to girls they should try to choose a variety of foods at each meal that includes a fruit, vegetable, grain, protein and dairy.
• Show MyPlate Sample Meal Photos and explain that here are a few pictures of sample meals. As you show each photo, ask girls what is the fruit, vegetable, grain, protein and dairy.
• Handout the MyPlate template to each girl. Explain that they will be decorating their own MyPlate. They can either draw pictures of a food for each section or cut out and glue photos from grocery flyers to their sheet. Grains examples can be oatmeal, pasta, whole wheat bread, etc. Protein examples can be chicken, hamburger, nuts, eggs, fish, etc. Dairy examples can be yogurt, cheese, milk, etc. Vegetables can be carrots, broccoli, squash, etc.
Fruits can be oranges, cherries, peaches, etc. • Invite girls to share their plates and place them with the other projects on the Energy
