hospital

• Use excess funds to renovate the day care as well as train staff to properly rehabilitate the children

Physiotherapy cont…

Trinh routinely composes individual goal charts after assessing each child’s development. This helps new volunteers in the daycare identify the needs of the children.

Occupational Therapy

Trinh designs arts & crafts workshops and indoor activities, three times a week, to increase social interaction, activities of daily life (ADL’s), communication, and coordination.

Educational DevelopmentTrinh has developed interactive and visual tools to help teach schedule recognition and self-care abilities. These learning sessions occur three times a week.

A schedule has been created so the children can visualize their dailyroutines.

Educational Development cont…Some of these educational development activities double as physiotherapy techniques to increase coordination and extremity dexterity.

Page 9: Little Dream Foundation of Saigon

Educational Development cont…Trinh and her mentor, Xuan, implement Augmentative and Alternative Communication. They teach sign-language and use picture association to increase methods of communication. This is helpful for the children with limited verbal expression.

Documentation

Trinh creates progress reports and tracks each child’s development. She reports to our team with quarterly updates.

Residual funds were used to renovate the daycare

•We were able to section off the main room of the daycare, creating an area for Trinh to administer her physiotherapy and occupational therapy exercises without distraction.

• Changing rooms have been built to give the children appropriate privacy when changing their clothes.

• New toys and equipment have been purchased to help Trinh in her therapeutic efforts.

Room Separation

Trinh would administer treatment in the main room amongst the other children, which is both distracting to her and the individual receiving therapy.

She now has a separate areato work with the children

Page 13: Little Dream Foundation of Saigon

Changing RoomsChildren requiring changing did not have the luxury of privacy. Retractable changing rooms were installed to allow appropriate privacy depending on the child’s needs.

New Toys and Equipment

New equipment was acquired to aid Trinh’s therapy techniques such as balance beams, toy bricks, and trampolines. These help the children with coordination, creativity, and balance.
