My Paintings Speak For Me
Staff and families participated in a Cultural
excursion to the Migration Museum to hear
Kunyi’s story as a victim of the stolen
generation and to see her experience
portrayed in her paintings.
Kunyi’s story was poignant, powerful and
positive. Kunyi’s story was a powerful
reminder of the important work we do with
our students and their families.
Kunyi told of how access to pencils and
paper led to her great love of drawing
which enabled her to express herself
through art.
Educators have the ability to influence and
empower students to learn and to follow
their heart and passion, to use their
strengths to have a better future.
Warm Regards
Michelle Kamma

At Fraser Park Preschool-7 School we
have been developing and using kits across the
school to teach Aboriginal Perspectives across the
curriculum. These kits have been developed in
partnership with Staff and our Aboriginal Families.
The kits cover a variety of different areas of the
Australian Curriculum including Science, History, Art,
Literacy and Numeracy. The kits are designed to be
an engaging way for students to learn about
Aboriginal Culture. The teachers have been using
these kits in the lead up to Naidoc Week to help
celebrate and promote an understanding of Culture
for Reconciliation. Cheers Russell

Scholastic Book Club
A great chance to buy your own book. Catalogues for Issue 4: Term 2 have been distributed to students. Orders with payment can be brought into the Front Office on or before Wednesday 20th June.
The reading materials chosen for our students expose them to many different types of text. This term Pulyeri (The Little Red Hen), Kungari (Big Rain Coming) and Wa:nyi ( Mrs Wobble The Waitress) are all reading Narratives or stories.
Wuldi have been reading and learning from Newspaper articles. They are focusing on how to write a Recount of the information that they have read.
Articles that were recently in the Murray Valley Standard and The Advertiser inform us about the weaving of Kondilli the whale by Ellen Trevorrow. They have been added to our Persona Doll Pack, Aboriginal Weaving.
This photo shows Tia, Tyrel, Jamain, Romy, Eli, Dean and our Front Office Persona Doll, Sunshine, reading about the Ngarrindjeri weaving. Sunshine recently “saw” other examples of Ngarrindjeri weaving at the South Australian Museum with the staff on the Student Free Day. Remember to read with your children.
Thankyou Anne Hein/Literacy Coordinator
“We acknowledge that the lands on which the Fraser Park Preschool-7 School are located on are the traditional lands for the Ngarrindjeri people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their
country and acknowledge that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Ngarrindjeri people today.” Nguldi Arndu (Welcome)

This fortnight in Pulyeri the children were involved in Dynamo and wind powered generators to create elec-tricity. We used our muscles to turn the generator in the Dynamo and the windmill used wind to turn the generator. Cooking biscuits to share. Looked at cogs and how they help transfer the wind power into electricity and to move the grinding stone to grind wheat grains into flour. Used copies of the story The Little Red Hen to follow along and participate in communal reading. Acted out the story and started making our own book of the story. Helped re-decorate Pulyeri with our new rugs Weighing different objects, hammering, making with boxes and looked at the concepts fair and unfair as demonstrated by the story Koala and Tree Kangaroo.
