Working Teams I see the work of these two teams culminating at the Community Christmas Fair on December 14.

Each team has a clear task.

My belief is, as a consequence of their efforts membership will grow, families will be more active in Lions and community and business groups will better understand Lions, and become more involved. We will know the community better, their needs and be able to draw on their many talents when fund rais-ing.

The chairman of each will ensure a progress report is given at each board meeting and committee meetings will be held to coordinate progress.

Meeting dates, times and location should be circulated to all members so they can at-tend if they wish. I have nominated board members to each team and people who have shown interest. I encourage all members to be involved in either of the teams.

BOTH chairman and teams as time goes by will need to be working closely together.

Community Involvement. Some ideas:

Identify all local voluntary community groups sport yoga etc. to social groups to garden club etc.

Identify all local business and outside ones that focus on our community.

Consider ways to involve the community and business groups in the Community Christ-mas Fair maybe stall, sponsorship display, demonstration or an activity to raise money.

Contact each ASAP, identify a contact person or persons, email, mail, and phone con-tacts.

Send out letter/email inviting them to Lions dinner September 26, for

community groups and October 24 for businesses explain the reason e.g.thank them and recognise the role they play in the community and seek their expertise in having a focused, enjoyable community fair and to support a community based fund raiser. As the community are contacted be open for their input and suggestions

A program for the dinner, questionnaire guest speaker?. Allen Tickle while busy has in-dicted he could organise guest speakers.

Fund Raiser. Review last year.

To me last year had all the organisation right and fund raising leading up to the day and on the day. This organisation needs to start now.

The Community Team hopefully will come up with a crowd.

Be flexible to cater for community and businesses groups as they are contacted

Give a reason for people to come

Some additional ideas to think about

Auction of memorabilia

Auction of donations e.g. stuff from businesses

Auction slaves to do a day’s work

I will try to get local primary schools involved.

Maybe a golf day the week before

Try to have a theme, maybe local produce or the community working together.

Focused fund raising, identify where the money will be through consultation.

President Ray

INVOCATION

As we Lions gather here,

we pause to offer up this prayer

Bless now, this food that we partake

and every effort that we make,

To build the towns in which we live,

And to put in our hearts, to give

to worthy causes.

Bless the blind

and all we do to serve mankind.

Be with us till we meet again and bless our

land and our homes....AMEN

LIONS CLUB PURPOSES

To promote world understanding

among all peoples.

To uphold good government and good

citizenship.

To help those less fortunate.

To join together in good fellowship

and friendship. To encourage open

debate.

To encourage others to serve.

To promote high ethical standards.

Page 14: LIONS CLUB Diary.pdfIdentify all local business and outside ones that focus on our community. Consider ways to involve the community and business groups in the Community Christ-mas

14

Lions Code of Ethics

To show my faith in the worthiness of my

vocation by industrious application to the end that I

may merit a reputation for quality of service.

To Seek success and demand all fair

remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept

no profit or success at the price of my own self respect

lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of

questionable acts on my part.

To remember that in building up my own

business it is not necessary to tear down another’s; to

be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics

of my position or action towards others, to resolve

such doubt against myself.

To hold friendship as an end and not a means. To

hold that true friendship exists not on account of the

service performed by one to another, but that true

friendship demands nothing but accepts service in

which it is given.

Always to bear in mind my obligations as a

citizen to my Nation, my State and my community and

to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and

deed.

To aid others by giving my sympathy to those in

distress, my aid to the weak and my substance to the

needy

To be careful with my criticism and liberal w ith

my praise, to build up not to destroy.
