Constance Rubini: Ronan, Erwan: how did you get to know Michel Roset?

Erwan Bouroullec: We met when we were working on the Outdoor chair, more than ten years ago now.

CR: This chair had an innovative design. It was a folding chair, with a fl exible curving hinge?

EB: Yes, it opened up like a petal. It also had the advantage of being very fl at when closed.

CR: I understand that Michel Roset’s interest was piqued straight away, since this chair demanded great precision in the execution of its seams, which of course is one of qualities Ligne Roset is particularly known for.

Ronan Bouroullec: Yes, with this chair everything depended on the success of the hinges, which must not cause so much as a single crease in the fabric. Ligne Roset’s expertise in this re-gard is excellent: they sew very well, they work intelligently with fabrics, they are experts in working with foam. These are some of their many strengths, things that make them stand out.

EB: The ‘outdoor idea’ has interested us ever since: a seat with all the qualities of a good sports shoe – durable, comfortable, dynamic, covered in an impermeable fabric. But, in hindsight, perhaps we made it a little too dry. We developed the shape of this chair using a series of miniature prototypes. The design of the seat and back sections was so singular that it just couldn’t be visualized in 2D. Sewing is a craft with so many design-re-lated nuances that an intermediate stage of small-scale proto-types was required. This approach, developed as a result of the questions raised by this model in particular, had a huge infl u-ence on the way in which our way of working developed from that point on. Even when we do a lot of drawing, whether by hand or on the computer, it seems essential to us to compare these drawings with the miniature models.

CR: And how did things develop between Outdoor (2001) & Facett (2005)?

RB: While we were working on Outdoor, we discovered the factory’s robotic sewing machines. They were programmed to produce mattress covers and quilts, and were perfect for sew-ing large areas. We said to ourselves at that point that these machines had even more potential, that they would enable us to work towards “hyper geometry”, contrary to the normal soft, fl owing look of fabric. We did initial trial runs with paper, then experimented with fabrics on our own sewing machines. We tried to lend them form, to give them greater “hold”. We dis-cussed these intuitive trials with Michel Roset.

EB: Facett came entirely from this intuitive beginning. The idea did not come out of nowhere: it arose from the particulars of the Roset factories and their equipment. Its use of forms developed from the possibilities off ered by the robotic sewing machines. The character of this piece evolved through the

EB: Right from when we developed the A’Poc boutique for Issey Miyake, we have been interested in knitted textiles. In the studio there were dresses which had been knitted in one piece, without seams. And several years later we discovered a knitted fabric made from a stretchy material that was just as elastic as tights, and will never wrinkle. I am fascinated with this material, which wraps itself around the body without restricting it, and which allows the body to retain its freedom.

RB: We then took this extremely stretchy fabric and, at the same time, encouraged Ligne Roset to work with much softer memory foams than are usually used. Very fl exible foams were obtained, across which the fabric was pulled tightly. The fi nal shape of the sofa arises from this marriage of foam and fabric.

EB: The body can sink into this sofa as if falling into sand, or into a Sacco (I), with one diff erence: since the foam has an excellent ‘memory’ for forms, it molds itself precisely to the shape of the body. Its very shape means that one can relax completely, adopting relatively close sitting positions. This means it is more suited to the home than to public spaces. It corresponds to the intimacy of private rooms and is evocative of a nest.

CR: Yes, a completely homogeneous form: it is impossi-ble to make out the point at which the back section beco-mes the seat.

EB: Exactly. There is not one hard point in this piece, its shape is the result of a kind of magic. The fabric is pulled taut, there are no folds or creases, it stretches and fl exes, it is an abstract form, free, very organic, reminiscent of the sculptures of Sir Henry Moore or Jean Arp.

CR: You have collaborated with many other companies and brands, including Italian and German. What, in your opinion, makes Ligne Roset stand out from among the other purveyors of design-led furniture?

EB: In contrast with the Italian manufacturers, whose products are mostly produced by a network of manufacturers, Ligne Roset retains mastery of the essentials in terms of production in its own factories. That has a far-reaching eff ect. These are pieces intended for a wider public than the Italian products, the distribution of which is much more restricted. With such a market presence, Ligne Roset is able to off er impeccable product quality.

RB: It means a lot to us that our products achieve the widest possible distribution. And then there is of course Ligne Roset’s particular talent in the fi eld of working with foam and upholste-ry, which, of course was the starting-point for our work on Facett and Ploum. Both models owe their very originality to this expertise.

modern use of these tools. When one cuts a sofa like a diamond, the result is Facett.

RB: It was also the right time to rethink production methods, which had long revolved around the work of seamstresses, who worked manually. How could one envision a model whose execution lay between the two methods: produced manually, yet also using digital machines?

CR: That must have caused some discussion within the business. What does “sewing” mean today? And which skills does it require these days in the context of Ligne Roset? Outdoor, Facett, and the latest model, Ploum – all three are similar with regard to the sewing and uphols-tery process that governs their outward appearance. Mind you, you managed to give each one of them a com-pletely diff erent and unique shape, although all three had a shared starting-point...

EB: That question is central to our work: how can one develop an individual character from often similar specifi cations? With Ploum, we again asked ourselves the question of comfort. We wanted to move towards the kind of comfort that emanates from extreme softness, to which the body is more or less prone.

CR: In contrast to Facett, which is geometrically structu-red, and whose highly structured form does not necessa-rily immediately evoke comfort. But Ploum is comfortable right from the very fi rst glance, if you can put it like that. EB: Yes, Facett’s lockstitch seam deprived the fabric of a degree of freedom. With Ploum, we worked around the idea of a deeper, more organic form. A free form, for which we had in mind what is for us the most interesting model in the Roset collection: Michel Ducaroy’s Togo.

RB: Yes, as an in-house designer Ducaroy had a good under-standing of the company’s identity and capabilities, particularly in respect to its work with foam. This also helped us under-stand the company’s success.

It’s hardly believable but one can dance the tango in Hamburg’s HafenCity every Sunday afternoon on the Magellan terraces in the heart of the most ambitious inner-city development project in Europe, at the entrance to the harbor basin and marina. In just 20 years, 6,000 apartments and 45,000 jobs have been created in a total area of 157 hectares formerly dedicated to commercial and maritime use. With HafenCity, Hamburg is demonstrating to the world how to build a vibrant city. Living, working, shopping, all skillfully embellished with culture and science – with the glass façade of the Elbe Philharmonic Hall (architects: Herzog de Meuron, Basel) and the new university of architecture, the HafenCity Universität, as fi gureheads.

Another vital characteristic is its outdoor life, on the squares and in the parks, on the promenades and on the quays. The urban landscape of Hamburg and its two lakes, Außenalster and Binnenalster, is characterized by an endless interweaving of aquatic and open spaces. HafenCity supplies a contem-porary interpretation: an “improvement in the quality of life”, in city planning parlance. It is a successful concept – the topo-graphy of the area is characterized by the historic harbor basin and quays. Little by little, dozens of waterside promenades and street cafés are springing up, an ideal location for all kinds of events, spontaneous or planned, from street artists to large-scale events. On weekends, the crowds converge on the area as Hamburg residents come to show off their city’s new “open-air ballroom” to their guests.

And, at the heart of it all, are the Magellan Terra-ces, where one can dance the tango. They are, like the Marco Polo Terraces on the neighboring harbor basin, an open invitation to come together, but also to relax, and meditate. The choice of the names in honor of two great navigators, one Italian, the other Portuguese, creates an almost metaphysical link with the sun-drenched ambiance of the Mediterranean. These two most important open spaces in HafenCity were dreamed up by the BAMMP (Arquitectes Associats de Barce-lona) architectural agency in Spain.

Also designed by BAMMP, the Sandtorpark has been enthusiastically received by Hamburg resi-dents ever since its opening in Spring 2011. With restaurants and chic cafés jostling for position

along its perimeter, visitors adore its grassy mounds, among which one might just as easily be in one’s own garden. These days, everyone benefi ts from this concept of the “public space as a catalyst for urban life”. The multi-layered usage concept brings all people groups to HafenCity – and not just the residents of Hamburg. It is where they come to meet, to experience together the contemporary interpretation of the Hamburg spirit. “Old ‘Aunty Hamburg’ has become a young, exciting lover once again,” commented daily newspaper the Hamburger Abendblatt, in typi-cally ironic fashion.

furniture or the lights, which were specially de-signed for the squares that can be seen glowing from afar like triangular sails; or the superb façades and buildings designed by prominent architects such as Richard Meier, Baumschlager & Eberle, Hadi Teherani or Christoph Ingenhoven. All of this chimes beautifully with the ideas of our designers. The slender frames of the Résille and Passio seating in particular blend so naturally into the urban landscape that visitors and HafenCity resi-dents alike playfully monopolize them in between shots. Outdoor living is fully on-trend, not only in one’s own garden but also in the heart of the city. Perhaps this might be the moment to refl ect, and to make a choice: must one accept sitting in mediocre plastic shells, or would it be preferable

to bring all the comfort of a well-made indoor piece of furniture outside?

The squares of HafenCity are not the only locations where Philippe Nigro’s Résille and François Azambourg’s Grillage can shine. Both their comfort and their lines make them perfect for indoor use. These days, the demarcation between the “winter garden” and the “garden living room” is no longer so clear-cut. These pieces of furniture, at the frontier between interior and exterior, respond perfectly to the ever-growing require-ment for experiencing outdoor life and durability – Hamburg has, after all, been named the Euro-pean Green Capital of 2011.

With the exception of the thermoformed ABS back interior, Moël is a return to the all foam know-how of Ligne Roset. It is intended for those who live in a casual way and wish to create a warm and intimate living space in which to host their friends. The exterior of this model is entirely fi xed by a metallic zipper, visible from the front. Available with a high or low back. The choice of fabrics allows the model and its ottoman to be bi-colored. Inga Sempé recommends that the top of the otto-man match the interior of the sofa or armchair and that the sides of the ottoman match the exterior of the sofa or armchair. Moël can now be upholstered in the exclusive Shanghai fabric from Cristian Zuzunaga.

Ruché incorporates an ideal blend of minimalism and sophistication, rigidity and comfort. Its name is derived from a sewing technique, in which fabric is gathered or pleated, creating a ruching eff ect. A thin yet strong structure-in natural varnished, anthracite, or red-stained beech-forms its foundation, upon which rests a seat whose distinct quilting lies at the heart of its design. Although it appears that the seat has simply been thrown over the structure, it is actually held to the frame. The result is simple yet fi ne-tuned, a harmonious union of straight lines and soft curves. An optional table surface can be incorporated into the sofa.

Facett off ers innovative aesthetics and superb comfort. The multifaceted collec-tion has small proportions which are ideal for urban living. Constructed from three interlocking multi-ply panels and thermoformed plastic, it is covered with elastic webbing and Bultex® foam. Quilted covers have 2”/5cm wide bands stitched with matching or contrasting thread (fi ve colors: ecru, anthracite, grey, red and blue). The armchair is off ered with a swivel or fi xed base. The small and large ottomans can extend the lines of the seats to create chaises or they can be used as backrests when sitting on the rug. Covers are removable.

Ploum is the ideal sofa or loveseat for moments when one truly wants to relax, alone or with friends. It is warm and comforting to the eye and soft to the touch. Likened by the Bouroullec brothers to “a ripe, voluptuous piece of fruit”, a lot of research went into Ploum’s creation. This single piece of upholstery, comprising two layers of high resilience Bultex® foam quilted together with thick polyester wadding between them, covers the entire piece, including the feet. Its slightly in-ward angle creates a cozy arrangement suitable for sitting, stretching out, and lying down, making Ploum remarkable in terms of both style and comfort.

Togo Michel Ducaroy

Passio is a multifunctional introduction, part of the new outdoor collection. Its in-ventive design was conceived for indoor living, but the choice of materials allows it to be enjoyed outdoors. Nigro’s signature themes of intersections and interlocking elements are apparent in the arms and back. They comprise passivated stainless steel wire and tubing topped with foam cushions in high-resilience Bultex® foam. The water-repellent cloth liner and waterproof sealed seams ensure its use and en-joyment outside.

This multiple award-winning sofa collection stands out with its creativity and playfulness. The workmanship is apparent. The asymmetrical and interlocked design aff ords diff erent seating options, pleasing lovers of unique style and comfort alike. Each piece incorporates varying heights and depths supported by combinations of multiple densities of Bultex® foam, for a personalized sitting experience. A sofa end table, which may also be used as an armrest, completes the collection. Items are available either monochromatic or in multicolor combinations chosen by Philippe Nigro himself.

Re-introduced in 2008, Pumpkin was originally designed for the private apart-ments of former French president Georges Pompidou in the Elysée Palace. Soft lines, round shapes and fi rm seating comfort all characterize Pierre Paulin’s 1971 creation. The collection includes an armchair with or without headrest, a loveseat and a sofa. Both armchairs are available with a swivel or fi xed base. An ottoman completes the line. A wide selection of fabrics and leathers is suitable for this model, while colorful wool genuinely highlights its style.

A Ligne Roset classic, Michel Ducaroy’s Togo has been the ultimate in comfort and style for over thirty years. The timeless collection features ergonomic design with multiple density foam construction and quilted covers, making each piece both visually attractive and physically inviting. Available as a sofa with or without arms, a loveseat, a corner seat, a chair and an ottoman. Togo can now be upholstered in the exclusive Shanghai fabric from Cristian Zuzunaga. In 2007, Ligne Roset introduced its fi rst-ever kids collection which includes a mini version of the Togo chair (see page 63).

With Simplissimo, award-winning architect Jean Nouvel secures his role as a design trailblazer. Simple Bridge is a re-issue of a previous collaboration between Ligne Roset and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. This beautiful and minimalist col-lection marks a return to traditional geometric forms. Its clean lines and curved contours give Simple Bridge its dynamic yet simple appearance, which is sure to suit busy urban dwellers who want uncomplicated pieces that contrast their hectic and intricate lives. Despite its slender look, Simple Bridge is extremely comfortable, thanks to its webbed seat suspension, high-resilience Bultex® foam with and extra comfort layer of polyester wadding. This collection comprises an armchair, love-seat, and ottoman.

A design concept for a hotel in Marrakech set the stage for collaboration between Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance and Ligne Roset. Through his extensive work with stitching and color, he brings both ingenuity and modern aesthetics to Ottoman. This all-foam seating collection - comprising a fi xed or swiveling armchair, love seat, sofa and ottoman - is sophisticated, and its shape and stylized stitching combine to provide ideal comfort and unparalleled durability. Two-color versions are available in diff erent fabrics or hides, with matching thread. Monochromatic versions may have either matching or contrasting thread. Covers are removable.

Philippe Nigro’s philosophy is to “think about the everyday through surprising yet sensible objects.” Entailles is a classic example of his design aesthetic: fully functio-nal, while also defying convention. This asymmetrical piece, with notches that high-light diff erent seat depths and back heights, also allows for the insertion of optional 3-leg occasional tables. Mix and match materials and colors for unique touches that will make Entailles truly your own. Seat and armrest are clad in Bultex® foam. To create Ted, Peter Maly revisited the Prao sofa he designed in 1985, keeping the original’s functionality, but reinterpreting it in a more contemporary language. The name pays homage to the Ted (Technology Entertainment Design) conference, started that same year. The Bultex® foam seat cushions on this modular piece provide a generous and welcoming presence. Built on a frame of steel tubing, its upholstered back and arm cushions are invisibly anchored to the frame. The possi-bility of positioning them anywhere around the frame increases the number of achievable confi gurations. The feet are available in black or grey lacquer. Not sold in North and South America.

Impressive looks, generous proportions and clean lines are the characteristics of this unique model, adding it to our collection of classics. Back and armrests may be positioned at any one of three levels: up, inclined and down. The Smala collection includes an elegant sofa and a one-arm loveseat that are comprised of a tubular steel frame, wooden slats and high resilience foam. It comes with polished alumi-num feet. An optional oversized cushion is also available. The sofa may be used as a day or guest bed (51¼” x 90½”/130 x 230cm), with an optional fi tted sheet. An oversized ottoman completes the ensemble.

Estran is an elegant sofa whose mobility and versatility make it the ideal model for relaxing activities. Its seat and back cushions are independent and adjustable, enabling Estran to easily be transformed to one’s desired seating position, and can even serve as an occasional bed for guests. The steel base and armrest supports are available in satin black lacquer or brilliant chrome. The seat cushions come in high resilience Bultex® foam topped in polyester fi ber, while the back cushions are fi lled with duck feathers. A feather-fi lled lumbar cushion is also included for optimal comfort.

With its timeless and cosmopolitan design, Urbani has quickly established itself as an integral part of the Ligne Roset collection. It certainly possesses the right attri-butes: generous proportions, sobriety of lines, and an elegant and adjustable low back. Feather-fi lled back cushions add a touch of refi nement, whilst the brilliant chrome feet bring a note of luxury. The seat depth of the loveseats and sofas may be adjusted up to 11¾”/30cm, thus off ering a choice of two relaxed positions. The large sofa also becomes a day bed (35½” x 80¾”/90 x 205cm): simply lean against the backrest to adjust the seat.

Designed by Patrick Jouin, who is known for his elegant and clean style, Lou was inspired by the idea of bringing comfort to the traditional club chair. Introduced to the collection in 2011 as an armchair, Lou is now available as a sofa. All of its characteristics remain, from its enveloping seat to its beautiful base, designed in one sweep to lend the appearance of lightness and fl exibility. The base is available in chrome or satin black lacquer, topped by a seat with elastic webbing suspension and Bultex® foam, with back cushion reinforced with an ABS shell to ensure that Lou retains its lovely shape over time. An ottoman completes the new collection.

The Feng collection off ers unique seating complete with subtle details, unmistaka-ble design and unparalleled comfort. Its aesthetic success lies in the contrast be-tween softness and geometric rigor: the strict lines of the frame and feet counterbalance the warm welcome of the quilted seat and plump back cushions. Features include seat cushions made from Bultex® foam, down pillows, stylish stit-ching and a brilliant chrome cross base or four ebony-stained oak feet. Gomez suggests a contrasting fabric on the seat to highlight the quilted cushion.

The tufted and buttoned seat cushions with thick piping give Nomade its signature mattress-style look and off er an oasis of comfort. The structure incorporates a tubular steel frame, a multiple density foam seat suspension and a high resilience Bultex® foam seat cushion. The pillows and bolster, fi lled with feathers, provide additional softness and accent the low profi le of the design. Cityloft has an international classic style. It features generous proportions, sure to satisfy lovers of tremendous comfort and a sleek black metal frame, giving the collection a contemporary feel. Elements include a sofa, loveseats with or without arm cushions, an armchair and an ottoman. The foam and feather-fi lled back and arm cushions rest on a light metal frame – which plays the role of front feet and arm support – and either low or high feet. Frame and feet are both in matte black lacquered aluminium. The seat cushions are especially soft thanks to Bultex® foam, yet off er remarkable support due to the elastic webbing suspension.

Depending upon how one views it, Harry can appear either very contemporary or very classic. From the height and slight inclination of its seat, to its tufted back and webbed suspension, everything about this model was carefully designed to provi-de exceptional support and comfort. The seat comes in high resilience Bultex® foam in various densities and may be upholstered in either fabric or leather. Two choices for the feet are available: a very slim “stiletto” leg, which gives Harry an airy appearance, or a sleigh base for a more traditional appearance.

Timeless design with generous and enveloping seating. The Rive Droite collection includes a loveseat, an armchair with a high or low back and an ottoman. The line features an elegant yet distinct seam. The seat cushion, made of high resilience Bultex® foam, provides the best support possible for your body. It is covered with feathers for additional comfort and softness. The feet come in anthracite lacque-red steel except for the ottoman which stands on invisible plastic sliders.

Mostra also contains a high-performing patented mechanism, which allows the bed to unfold easily by pulling on the back. This everyday sofa bed has an understated elegance reminiscent of the stylish 1930s with its seat and back looking like a traditional mattress. Both the headrest and backrest are adjustable allowing for fi ve diff erent positions, making this piece the ideal option for guests. In the sofa position Janus provides deep comfort. When opened, it becomes a large sofa-bed that retains its beauty and great support while still suspended above the fl oor. The seat and backrest are made of polyurethane foam, while the base and arms are made of chromed steel tubing, equipped with non-slip gliders which make it easier to position the sofa-bed. Optional leather covers are available for the armrests, as are optional feather fi lled cushions.

Facett off ers innovative aesthetics and superb comfort. The quilted cover has 2”/5cm wide bands stitched with matching or contrasting thread. The armchair is available with a swivel or fi xed base. When used jointly, the ottoman extends the lines of the armchair to create a chaise.

Grillage demonstrates the fusion of technology and art for which Azambourg is well-known. This indoor and outdoor-compatible chair com-prises a steel tube base with a single piece of metal folded origami-style. Grillage appears light, but provides excellent support. An optio-nal pad made of quilted fabric may be attached to the seat for additional comfort. Available in satin black epoxy or light blue lacquer.

Résille is sure to make a statement in any out-door space. Its delicate beauty starts with its thin, stainless steel base with Nigro’s signature interlocking design. The foam seat cushion comes with an additional comfort layer, with a water-repellent cloth liner and waterproof sealed seams. Indoor version available in a full range of fabrics.

Torn is a relaxing armchair with a simple appea-rance that does not compromise on comfort. The stitching emphasizes its outline and gives the recliner its distinct shape. The plastic shell is available in matte black or white and the steel swivel base is fi nished in brilliant chrome.

Ligne Roset continues its long history with Pritz-ker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, with the release of Simplissimo. Designed for people who love the uncompromisingly modern and those who appreciate clean lines. Its comfort ari-ses from its minimal but expressive shape, smart choice of materials along with great attention to detail.

Anneau redefi nes the concept of the traditional lounge chair. The webbed suspension on the seat and back lie above a sculptural and sensual cast aluminium base linked only by a doubled steel ring, resulting in a light, almost ethereal design.

This airy and suspended chair is a study of er gonomic curves. Its fi berglass structure of va rying thickness and high back combine to support the entire body comfortably. The arms and feet come in chrome or satin black lacquer. Also available without arms.

Simple Bridge’s clean lines and curved contours combine to give this armchair a dynamic yet simple appearance. Its comfort comes thanks to its webbed seat suspension, high-resilience Bul-tex® foam with and extra comfort layer of poly-ester wadding. It comes on protective gliders for easy movement.

Calin off ers the outstanding comfort you would expect from a pillow. Bultex® foam, fi xed or adjustable back, aluminum lacquered steel feet and removable cover with distinct pillow detail create this soft and casual collection. The fi reside chair comes in two sizes.

Harry evokes classic Chesterfi eld chairs, but its modern lines and multiple fabric options will satisfy more contemporary sensibilities. Ho-wever viewed, Harry inspires comfort. Two feet options are available: a very slim “stiletto” leg, or a sleigh base, both in brilliant chrome.

First edition from the private collection of for-mer French president Georges Pompidou in the Elysée Palace. Soft lines, round shapes and fi rm seating comfort all characterize Pumpkin. The armchair is off ered with a swivel or fi xed base as well as with or without headrest. A small otto-man complements the line.

Pluriel combines high standards of comfort with sleek and curvaceous design. The armchair co-mes with a low or high back and aluminum feet. The low back version is off ered with a fi xed or swivel base. Other elements in this collection in-clude a sofa, loveseat and either a square or rec-tangular ottoman.

Lou is a beautiful cantilevered chair, with an en-veloping seat that unites comfort with visual lightness. Its base, available in chrome or satin black lacquer, lends this model fl exibility, allo-wing it to fl oat. The cushions on the base and seat are removable. An ottoman is now available.

Archi’s generous slope and ergonomic seat de-sign support the body perfectly. The high back enables one to rest the head and shoulders. Available with or without arms. The legs come in black lacquered or brilliant chromed steel.

This deep fi reside chair is an interpretation of the simple curve shape. It provides outstanding comfort and is balanced on a brilliant chrome swivel base. Also available with fi xed legs. Mini Pop is a smaller version of the dynamic Pop chair.

Ingenuity, superior stitching, and modern aes-thetics are the hallmarks of this all-foam arm-chair, inspired by the traditional Moroccan ottoman. It is available with a swivel or fi xed base, and in either monochromatic or two-colored combinations.

Rive Droite was conceived with all the attributes of a traditional club chair: enveloping comfort complemented by an ottoman. The seat cushion can be fi lled with feathers for soft sup-port or with high-resilience Bultex® foam for fi rmer support.

Neo is a modern take on the traditional rocking chair. Its curves lend it a friendly air, fi tting right into both contemporary and more traditional interiors. Choice of ebony oak and polished or brushed aluminum arms. Also available without arms. The rocking movement can be stopped thanks to an adjustable jack beneath the seat.

With the exception of the thermoformed ABS back interior, Moël is a return to the all foam know-how of Ligne Roset. This enveloping arm-chair off ers the most comfortable and pleasant experience possible. It appeals most to lovers of an informal lifestyle.

Togo has been the ultimate in comfort and style for more than thirty years. The collection features both visually attractive and physically in viting pieces. The most recent addition is a scaled version for toddlers and kids of the iconic chair designed in 1973.

Moël is available with a high or low back. The back of the model is fi xed by a metallic zipper, visible from the front. Moël can also be uphols-tered in the stylish Shanghai fabric from Christi-an Zuzunaga.

This armchair has generous proportions and a sleek black frame. It comes with low or high feet. Frame and feet are both in matte black lacquered aluminium. The seat cushion is espe-cially soft thanks to Bultex® foam, yet off ers re-markable support due to the elastic webbing suspension.

Flax is a very accommodating chair that will fi t into traditional and modern interiors alike. The entire structure is made from curved slats of solid walnut, with an integral lumbar cushion, and a seat cushion set in steel springs with Bultex® foam.

Antigone is a re-edition of Pierre Paulin’s classic design from the 1980s, characterized by its strong, masculine lines. Its structure comes in either black-stained or natural solid beech, with a top in clear glass.

This oval or rectangular-shaped occasional table comes with a clear glass top. The wire-like steel base is fi nished in either red or black lacquer.

This table is notable for its asymmetry of colors and shapes. It comes with aluminum legs, and has a walnut veneer shell, with a top available either in all white, argile, mastic and ele-phant lacquer, or in a combination of two lacquers, inclu-ding an additional lavender blue option.

This low table has three superimposed tops, the upper two of which pivot. The tops come in either all gloss white or black lacquer, or in multiple lacquer or lacquer/ebony oak veneer combinations. The base comes in anthracite epoxy lacquered metal.

This low table provides high style thanks to its pedestal base in white epoxy lacquered steel and square top with softened corners. Available in white Carrara marble, or white or elephant laminate. Two sizes off ered.

Set of two coff ee tables, one low and one high. The frame comes in matte black lacquered steel with two glass tops. The low table is screen printed with a pink/blue glass com-bination, while the high table comes in a screen printed yellow/pink combination.

Pierre Charpin’s Linosa table is a study of forms, a work of both art and poetry. The top – comprising a piece of glass with an anthracite or white silkscreen printed motif – gives the impression of waves. Available in two sizes, both with brushed stainless steel legs. A new toughened crystal glass table is also available in the narrow size only.

This low table can be a both a decorative piece and a func-tional piece for entertaining. It comprises three fl at round tables in brilliant white or black lacquer, with a removable fourth round serving tray in a contrasting brilliant white or red lacquer. Additional trays may be ordered as well.

Brooklyn is a low table featuring two elements: a small table positioned astride a larger table. It comes in thick, curved clear glass with clear plastic gliders. The dimensions below correspond to the table with both elements put together.

Convertible table that off ers a wide range of heights. The top pivots 90° and unfolds to double the surface area, easily transforming the coff ee table into a dining table. Off ered in ebony oak, white glass and white lacquer, or anthracite glass and black lacquer. Matching lacquered steel base. A handle allows the top to be raised or lowered to the desired height.

Strates has three superimposed leaves, the top two of which pivot. The monochromatic versions come in ebony oak veneer, or white, black, mastic, argile or elephant lacquer. Two-tone options are also off ered with top and bottom leaves in black, mastic, argile or elephant lacquer, or ebony oak or walnut veneer. Choice of two to three colors for the middle leaf, depending on the fi nish.

This square low table complements the dining table of the same name. Its ceramic top is resistant to chemicals, heat and UV rays and is made of eco-friendly materials. Availa-ble in black or white lacquer with matching lacquered alu-minum feet. New to the collection is the white or black glass top with black aluminum feet, for indoor or outdoor use.

A reproduction of one of Pierre Paulin’s fi rst-ever creations. Lupo is notable for its clear geometric lines and four slanted legs. The top, with its cut-out handles, makes it a mobile table that may also be used as a serving or breakfast tray. Available in black-stained solid oak.

Meïda is an attractive reinterpretation of traditional Mo-roccan tables. Its structure comes in black or white epoxy lacquer with a matching color glass top.

Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance’s low table is uniquely shaped, with a structure in black or white epoxy lacquered steel, and top in black or white glass.

The shape of this unique low table is reminiscent of a boat. It can be used to display objects or hold items, and is composed of four surfaces linked by brilliant chromed steel connectors. Available in gloss white lacquer or walnut.

This stylish square or rectangular coff ee table is part of the Contours line. Made of two or four square panels that are separated by a strip of anodized aluminum. Available in ebony oak, or white or black lacquer.

Extendable low table with two shells mounted on a sliding system: one is fi xed, the other on casters. The exterior is available in white lacquer or walnut veneer and the interior comes in white or black lacquer.

This square low table is made of one side and base in American walnut veneer and the other side and top in polished white Carrara marble, treated to prevent stains. Also off ered as a sofa end table.

Book & Look is a versatile cabinetry program based on two principles: simplicity and ele-gance. It off ers infi nite possibilities. Wall-mounted and stand alone bookcases, chests with one, two, three, four or eight doors and low platforms with or without wall-mounted back panel can be used to create a one-of-a kind system. Also available is an open chest with two adjustable glass shelves as well as a tall unit with two hinged doors and a sliding opaque glass door. New to the collection are the wall mounted shelves and the square sideboards

Philippe Nigro continued his love for repetition and variation on a basic shape with the crea-tion of Cuts, a stackable system that plays with concepts of straight lines and angles. The double-sided piece has an irregularly-cut shape, but its depth remains the same, enabling multiple modules to be placed side-by-side. Reverse or fl ip it for diff erent shapes in varying

ways. Stack or place end-to-end to create bookcases to your desired dimensions. It comes in lacquered white, argile or elephant-lacquered MDF, and is help in place by its weight, and secured using small, non-slip rubber pads, which should be placed between modules.

Also available are bookcases with three and fi ve shelves, cabinets with one door and a secretary or bar. Choice of u-shaped feet, or round or rectangular jacks for most pieces. The collection is available in ebony oak veneer, or black, white, mastic, argile or elephant lacquer. The low

chests and TV units are off ered with matching or aluminum fi nished tops. Drawers have matching lacquered interiors except the ebony oak veneer which is paired with black lac-quered interiors. Elements with glass doors have milk or anthracite lacquered glass depen-ding on the fi nishes.

The secretary is available as a bar with the drop door opening to reveal a mirrored back panel and four racks for storage of wine glasses. crosspieces in polished aluminum. The sideboard comes with two sliding doors or two doors and three shock-absorbing drawers. The chests of drawers are also equipped with shock-absorbing drawers. All doors and drawers have brilliant chrome handles.

This cabinetry program comprises fi ve individual storage units available in fi ve heights and two widths, with preset arrangements of drawers and niches (units A to E). By combining units, a high-capacity storage system can be created without sacrifi cing aesthetics. Structure and drawers are available in gloss white or black lacquer. The niches, with optional LED interior lighting, come in walnut veneer or gloss black. The chest with one or two doors and

the cabinet with two doors, four drawers and three niches are two additions to the program. A TV unit and two preconfi gured chests – one with three drawers and two niches and ano-ther with four drawers and three niches – complete the collection.

Pascal Mourgue’s Tours bookcases are an exercise in aesthetics and functionality. Three elements of three diff erent heights compose the collection and each may be used either against a wall or in the center of a room. A distinguishing feature is the preset sequencing pattern of the colored back panels. Kermes is an elegant open buff et with a style suggestive of contemporary fi fties and seventies design. It has a black-stained ash exterior with a red or lavender blue-lacquered interior with fi xed internal shelves. The feet are in solid black-stained ash, screwed into a metal plate.

This branch-shaped coat rack comes in white lacquered steel.

Mirror with frame in natural solid walnut or black-stained solid ash. The mirror glass is fi xed to a support with 2 struts which enable the mirror to be fi xed to the wall either hori-zontally or vertically. Available in small or large.

This poetic and sculptural piece off ers a new approach to bookcases. The vertical partition strips catch ambient light, casting patterns onto the surfaces around them. Whether fi lled with books or magazines, or left entirely empty, it will be an impressive addition to any room. Available in white lacquer.

This dining table has a black or white lacquered glass or ceramic top, the latter of which is resistant to chemicals, heat and UV rays and is made of eco-friendly materials. Seram comes with matching lacquered aluminum feet. New to the collection is the white or black glass top, with base and crosspieces in gloss black-lacquered anodized aluminum, for an outdoor or indoor use.

Grand dining table with or without extension leaves. The top is available in ebony oak veneer, or white, elephant, mastic or argile lacquer, or solid American walnut (walnut veneer for the extendable option). The legs come in matching fi nish with matte chromed steel spacers and their direction alternates at each corner.

Eaton, made of oil-treated and matte-fi nished solid wood, adapts perfectly to any interior. In European or American walnut, cherry, natural, or ebony oak. Two depths available. Choice of nine lengths for the fi xed table and eleven lengths with the extension leaf (19¾”/50cm). The longer lengths have an additional leg in the center of the table. Matching benches available.

This extendable table can accommodate up to 12 people. The three 19¾”/50cm wide extension leaves are stored within the table. The top is off ered in white or argile-lacquered glass or aluminum. This adjustable table has a round top and a base in brilliant-chromed steel. The top is availa-ble in two sizes: the medium top is off ered in solid walnut, or clear or white lacquered glass, and the large one comes in clear glass.

This multifunctional pedestal table has a clear glass top cut in an elegant elliptical shape with one straight side and can therefore fi t neatly against a wall, thus saving space. Résille’s design is suitable for both indoor and outdoor dining and pairs well with many of Lig-ne Roset’s tables. It has a steel wire base, curved and intersecting in the back, with a slim seat cushion in Bultex® foam, with a comfort layer for the indoor version, and a waterproof, antifungal cotton outer layer for the outdoor version.

This re-edition of a classic 1950s chair respects the original design but makes it current with its larger proportions. Its comfort comes from the Bultex® foam seat and Pullmafl ex® suspension. The legs are available in black lacquered or brilliant chromed steel. Removable cover.

Mobidec’s design resembles a smart and stylish equestrian saddle. The bulk of the lightweight seat rests on a metal base that resembles a pair of stirrups, and elevates it slightly off the ground. The fabric strap envelopes the seat and doubles as a handle for ease of movement. Available in only select fabric and leather options.

This upholstered dining chair is comprised of a foam seat and back with embedded springs and polished aluminum legs with rubber glides. Both fabric and hide covers may be easily removed for dry cleaning.

Named for the restaurant at the Guggenheim Museum, where it was fi rst debuted, this chair is now being produced for home use. Guggen has a slightly curved seat that provides ideal support, and a quilted back formed by three padded hori-zontal foam strips, with simple stitching. Avail-able as a swiveling chair with a crossed-shaped steel base, or fi xed with a steel sleigh base.

This bench, low table and bedside table were designed to complement the new Ruché bed. Their bases come in satin black-lacquered steel, enveloped by thick, full-grain aniline, matte-fi nished Catala leather. The tops are available in var-nished natural, anthracite-stained, or red-stained beech.

A vanity and bedside table extend the Lumeo collection. They both feature a drawer made of Dibond® and are available in ebony oak veneer, or white, mastic, argile or elephant lacquer with aluminum lacquer details. The vanity has a milk glass top and an oval beveled mirror mounted on two steel uprights. The mirror is adjustable in height.
