Learn About Whole-Life Generosity Through Lighthouse Church’s
The Overflow Experience is a two part retreat that is story-driven and experiential in nature. It includes inspiring stories of generous people, along with lots of good discussion, reflection and Bible study. This experience enables participants to process and practice a whole-life generosity that flows from knowing, studying and living out the gospel. This retreat is about whole-life generosity, but is not part of a fund-raising campaign. Rather, it is a significant step for us to explore what living a generous life looks like as an entire church. We’ve invited our friends from GenerousChurch to bring this spiritual growth experience to us. GenerousChurch exists to equip leaders in churches to unleash generous disciples. In order for us to continue strong in accomplishing our mission, our deliberate culture of Biblical discipleship and generosity needs to be nurtured. A retreat such as the one we have planned will be a significant step in that direction. Hope you can participate! Here are the details and how to RSVP: Dates: October 4 & 5, 2019 Times: Friday, October 4: 6:30pm – 9:00pm (No dinner, but we will have dessert!) Saturday, October 5: 8:30am – 12:00noon (Haiti Breakfast 8:30-9:00 – by donation) Location: Friday Evening: A Home To Be Determined / We will let you know Saturday Morning: At Lighthouse Church RSVP: Call the Church Office at 913-294-2400 or send an email to: [email protected] Check out these videos and you’ll be hooked! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eTbs6cZ61I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vahi77oOsK4 *Following this Experience you will have an opportunity to join a six week Small Group using your notes and reflections from the Weekend and your study of the booklet Whole-Life Generosity Devotional – a stimulating 28 Day devotional guide by Generous Church.

Wednesday @ 6:00 pm beginning Sep. 11th Childcare will be provided at both class times.
Given the many challenges of discipling children in our fast-paced, social media dominant
culture, it’s mission critical that parents are prepared to help their kids navigate the tough
faith questions they’ll encounter.
Join us as we begin our ten week study together. We will cover 40 of the most important
faith challenges parents and kids need to understand today.

Year-Round Shoebox Collection Items
This fall, we would like to have a big packing party to try and fill as many shoeboxes as we can. I have wondered
what a good goal would be and I would like to see us try and fill up 100 shoe-boxes. However, in order to do this, we will need donations of all kinds for all ages. Boxes will be filled for either a boy or a girl and in age groups of 2-4 years, 5-9 years, or 10-14 years. Some items we are needing for each box are: Wash cloths Bar soap Combs Hair brush Toothbrush Color pencils Please drop off any items you would like to donate in the Church Office. If you are interested in helping with this wonderful ministry or you have any questions, please feel free to call Tracey Hecker at 913-731-6337 or email at [email protected].
Mark your calendars!

Anchor Watch at Lighthouse
Saturday, September 7th 4:00 – 7:00pm
Anchor Watch is the official name we have given to our new Respite Care for families who have a loved one with special needs. On Saturday evening, September 7th Lighthouse Church will become a beacon of hope for these families in our church and community. The parents and/or caregivers of loved ones with special needs (Buddies) will have an opportunity to bring both their loved one and his/her siblings to our church from 4:00 – 7:00pm. We will team up a volunteer with each Buddy, feed all of them pizza for dinner (yes, siblings too), have a brief devotion/prayer, and then encour-age them to explore several types of rooms in the building (including a Quiet Room for people who are sensi-tive to sight and sound). There is no cost for this evening; nursery will be provided for children up to three years old, ages four and up will join in the activities. We will be limited to the first 20 Buddies who sign up. You may sign up your Bud-dy (and siblings) at the table located by the Prayer Room.
