| LIGHTHOUSE | MARCH-APRIL 4 CSS Group’s Yacht & Marine Logistics division were recently appointed to handle a yacht delivery from Jacksonville, Florida to Jebel Ali Port in the UAE. The yacht, named Reem 1, was a luxury one of a kind yacht that was built in accordance to the owner’s specifications and requirements, and measures 51 meters in length with a weight gross registered tonnage (GRT) of 475 tonnes. The luxury vessel was designed for a VVIP residing in Dubai, and the CSS Yacht & Marine Logistics division took great care to ensure that every detail of the delivery was taken care off and given the highest priority to ensure safe and careful delivery of the mega yacht. Strategically headquartered in Dubai, Consolidated Shipping Services L.L.C. has fully operational bases in Jebel Ali Free Zone and Dubai Airport Freezone, as well as benefits from a further eight offices in the UAE alone to allow the smoothest and specialist on-the-ground support. The company provides freight forwarding and logistics via air, land and sea, which is handled by over 750 employees working across its network of offices around the world, including locations in key areas within the UAE and throughout the Middle East. The CSS Yacht & Marine Logistics role in this task was to liaise with the VVIP client and his legal team to prepare the yacht for transportation from Florida, bring in a special heavy lift vessel, design a lifting and discharge plan, identify specialized equipment for lifting and source professional load masters both in the USA and at Jebel Ali, UAE. Given the clientele, and the size of the vessel it was extremely important that the entire execution was thought through and every possible scenario planned for. “With yacht and marine logistics it is important that the service providers be prepared for any scenario and is aware of the rules and regulations, especially when providing solutions across continent.
