SHARING THE GOSPEL USING JOHN 3 :16John 3:16 is a very simple expression of the Gospel, and can be summed up in 4phrases: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoeverbelieves in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Good News (“God loved the world”): God loves you. Bad News (“perish”): we are separated from God through sin and need a savior. Good News (“he gave his one and only Son”): Jesus is the savior You Choose (“everyone who believes in him”): Will you put your trust in Him?

W H A T T O E X P E C TEach gathering will include

B i b l e :4movements

A time of prayer for those in and outside the group, as well asprayer based on where God has been leading in your personalOne Thing Study time.

1 Discussion based on what God has been teaching, challenging, encouraging each member of the group in their One Thing Studytime.

P r a y e r :2

Everyone in the group will be encouraged to identify a missionfield God has called them to in the church and outside thechurch. Each week the group leader will facilitate a time oftestimony where the group shares successes, frustrations orhelp needed in living a purposeful life. At least once a year eachlife group will engage in a ministry project together.

M i s s i o n :3

We believe that to live a purposeful life, we must be leadingpeople to freedom in Jesus. Groups will discover how to live andshare the good news of Jesus and will weekly share who theyare praying for and how they are living and sharing this goodnews.

M O V E M E N T 4M o v e m e n t 4 ( E v a n g e l i s m )God's story of love, grace and forgiveness is the greatest story humanity has ever known. As a church, we want to tell this story well, not only with the life that we live, but theconversations we have. We want to encourage you to first identify one to two people in yourlife who have not put their faith in Christ, who you can begin praying for regularly. Second, use this short outline as an encouraging guide as you talk to them and others about Jesus.

Two Friends I commit to praying for:

1. ___________________________ 2. ___________________________

ook for opportunities to talk about Jesus:Q: Last week you told me about_____ (a difficulty). I wanted you to know that I’vebeen praying for you. How are things going this week?Q: Do you have a church you're a part of?Q: Last night in our Life Group... (share a funny story). ffer the gospel message. Once you’re in a conversation about “spiritual things” i.e.prayer, Jesus, church, the Bible, look for an opportunity to explain the gospel (good news) i.e.how Jesus solved the sin problem for humanity and brought us to God’s loving forgiveness.Examples: a. The gospel message in it’s simplest form:1.God loves 2.We sinned 3.Jesus died in our place & rose again 4.God forgave 5.We acceptb. Use John 3:16 (see below). olunteer your testimony. In two minutes or less share your testimony – how Jesushas changed your life. Three elements to a good testimony:1. What my life was like before I met Jesus 2. How I met Jesus 3. How I live in freedom(life has changed) since I met Jesus ncourage them to move toward JesusCreatively challenge them to get to know Jesus.Q: Would you be interested in coming to church with me this Sunday?Q: If I got you a Bible or a Bible app, would you read it with me?Q: How can I be praying for you?

M O V E M E N T 1 & 2M O V E M E N T 3There are three items you will need in order to make this time effective: a. A Bible b. The One Thing Study reading plan c. A notebook dedicated to writing down your thoughts and impressions. Please bring this notebook with you to your Life Group as this is an important piece of the gathering. One Thing Studies are a simple tool for having a meaningful time withGod & consists of three parts: 1. Read a passage in the Bible. We have created a daily reading guide that will take you through the bookof John. For five days out of the week, we are asking you to open up yourBible and read through the section of Scripture. 2. Mark one thing. As you begin to read, you might want to ask God, “Please speak to me as Iread your Word.” While reading, look for one thing that stands out to you(a word, phrase, big idea, a question you have...). Once you haveidentified your “one thing,” write it down in your notebook, askingquestions such as, “What does this 'one thing' mean?” or “How will I applythis today?” or “Why is this so encouraging?” Write down a few thoughtsto those questions in your notebook. 3. Pray about it.Whatever your One Thing is, pray it back to God. Have a meaningfulconversation with God about it. You may end up praising Him, thankingHim, or asking Him to do something. You might confess sin. Whateveryou do, share your heart with God; be real with Him. Consider also thequestion, “What am I going to do about it?”

M o v e m e n t 3 ( M i s s i o n )Several metaphors are used in the Bible to help us understand the role ofthe church such as the BODY of Christ. This means all of us who make upthe church have the privilege of using our gifts, talents and abilities tocontinue the ministry Jesus began. In prayer, conversation with others andusing the tools below, try to discover where your gifts, talents and abilitiescould best be used in the church and outside the church i.e. where will youserve in the church and where will you be a missionary in your community? When we love others through acts of service, our lives find purpose and joy. Tools: 1. Visit www.freeshapetest.com to take a free S.H.A.P.E. assessment.SHAPE stands for Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experiences, and is designed to help you discover how God has uniquely created you tolove and serve Him. 2.
