Eligible applicants:
• This call is open to all undergraduate students studying life sciences at theUniversity of Helsinki. Life Science faculties at the University of Helsinki are:
• Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry• Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences• Faculty of Medicine• Faculty of Pharmacy• Faculty of Science• Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
• Two options: 3 months or 6 months(longer option is only for pro gradu thesis)

• Motivation letter:propose a research group where you would like to conduct your internship and justify whyinternship in this group would be valuable for your studies / career (max. 1 pg.).Please note that you are not expected to contact the research group at the application stage!

For selected students• Contacting the group and securing the position by signing a traineeship
agreement is ultimately your responsibility and a prerequisite for gettingthe grant.
• We will provide support in writing the application + a letter of support from theHiLIFE director
• The HiLIFE Research Trainee Scholarships will provide generous financialsupport (up to €2000/month + travel costs)
• The grant amount may be adjusted based on the location.

• You are responsible for arranging the practicalities:• Study-related practicalities: contacting your study councilor to plan the
timing and figure out whether / how you can include this as a part of yourstudies.
• For 6 month internships, arranging Master’s thesis practicalities within the studyprogramme, including finding a local supervisor.
• Arranging travel and housing.• Making sure you carry adequate health insurance, required vaccinations and
country-specific permits to conduct the internship at the host institution (thestudents of University of Helsinki are covered by the Statutory AccidentInsurance 351-0928825-j), which compensates occupational accidentsoccurred during laboratory or field work or other practical training in Finlandand abroad).

• HiLIFE: contributing to the programs marketing (blog/vlog) and filling aquestionnaire at the end of the traineeship.
