human intervention!

• Structured Data allow for automated – and therefore cost

effective – search, retrieval and update while

maintaining the intelligent information content

• Structured Data should be preferable defined for

information that will be used in downstream automated

processes or updated regularly throughout the life cycle

of the capital facility

Unstructured Data & Electronic Images Definition

• Unstructured Data are data that can’t be accessed andmanipulated directly by computer programs without humanintervention!

• Electronic images are a type of unstructured data!

• Mostly for read only access

• Updating information in this format is very difficult

• Electronic format is the simplest format that allowscontrolled multiple access of information

• Machine interpretation is very difficult or even impossible

• Examples:– digital photos,– pictures,– scanned paper documents
