1. Get an overview of topic – try lecture notes, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, websites
2. In order to search databases effectively, decide key words or phrases that describe what you need to find
e.g The case for and against Immigration ControlKeywords would be Immigration Control- We call these Concepts
3. Searching literature from around the world. To find all possible results – think of other ways to describe your chosen Concepts
