Te Puna Interloan - an overview

● 88% of New Zealand libraries use Te Puna Interloan● Te Puna Interloan facilitates borrowing from, and

lending to, NZ and AUS libraries● Te Puna Interloan uses VDX - an OCLC tool● Jointly administered by LIANZA and the National Library

of New Zealand● Uses a web interface for initiating, responding to and

monitoring requests throughout the Interloan process● Allows for charging and reciprocal arrangements

University of Otago - Use and users

● ‘Get It Interloan’ used by University staff, students; Otago Polytechnic staff, students; Hospital staff

● Provides access to books and scans from anything we don’t hold

● Links into purchase-on-demand● Free for most items

Facts and figures● 12 staff, across 6 branches, including

o Supply Anchoro Domestic Requesting Anchoro International Requesting Anchoro Flexible Delivery Librarian

● ~10,000 requests for our clients each year, of which 7,000 are filled

● ~5,000 items supplied from our collections, of which ~500 are supplied overseas

● Over 90% free to our clients
