Team RulesRules and Guidelines

Icecats Hockey (Player and Team)

Player must, at all times, be progressing towards passing grades in all classes. Player must be in school or have valid excuse for absence to be eligible to participate in that day’s

activity. Players should arrive at the rink one (1) hour prior to game time. For games ALL players must wear

team designated attire (will be decided at the beginning of the season) Players should be ready to hit the ice 5 minutes prior to scheduled practice time. Player must inform coaching staff with a valid excuse if unable to attend practice or game. Players must report all injuries to the coaching staff. Serious injuries (ie: concussion) will require medical approval before returning to the ice. Abuse or showing disrespect to officials, teammates, opponents, or coaching staff will not be tolerated.

Loss of playing time will result if this action is detrimental to the team. Unexcused absence from practice, Games, CrossFit, or Team meetings will result in loss of playing

time.

i. Everyone is allowed ONE ABSENCE without penalty. ii. 2nd absence- SIT ONE PERIOD

iii. 3rd absence- SIT TWO PERIODS iv. 4th absence- SIT A GAME/MEET WITH PARENTS

Team ExpectationsCoaches Expectations of Players

1. Attendance is expected at all team functions unless previously excused or sickness occurs. The coach must be notified if a player will be absent.

2. Always give 100% effort - Go beyond your perceived limits. 3. Maintain clean uniform and only wear game jersey and socks for games only. Do NOT wear game

jersey or game socks to practices 4. Communicate any concerns to the coaching staff. 5. Always exhibit good sportsmanship. 6. Understand that playing time is earned through a combination of effort, performance, understanding of

the game, attitude, and overall talent. As a result, game time ice will not be equal nor is it guaranteed. 7. HAVE FUN!

Player Expectations of Coaches 1. Coaches will treat all players respectfully and strive to improve their individual skill level within a team

environment. 2. At least one coach will arrive at least 30 minutes prior to each game. 3. Coaches will always have an open line of communication. 4. Coaches will strive to put individuals in an environment where their skill level will lead to success. 5. Coaches will maintain a safe practice environment. 6. Coaches will develop concepts that best give the team the opportunity to be successful. 7. Coaches will at all times exhibit and promote good sportsmanship, before, during and after games.

Scholarships• Individual family must make a request to the

President of the Board• President will review the financial requirements

with the family • Should family want to pursue scholarship,

President will instruct them to contact the respective school to follow the schools process

• The school will then notify the Icecats if the family qualifies for a scholarship

• No personal financial information is to be disclosed to the Icecats organization

Team ManagersEACH TEAM REQUIRES A MANAGER. THE MANAGER IS A DIRECT LIASON WITH THE COACHING STAFF. THEY WILL PROVIDE COMMUNICATION TO THE PLAYERS AND PARENTS FROM THE COACHING STAFF. THE MANAGER WILL ENSURE THAT ALL SCORE SHEETS ARE SENT IN ON TIME. THE MANAGER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR PLAYER’S PERSONAL FILES AT EACH GAME. THE MANAGER WILL HAVE SCORE SHEETS FOR EACH GAME. THE MANAGER WILL HAVE THE COMPLETE USA HOCKEY ROSTERS AND REGISTRATION FORMS REQUIRED FOR USA HOCKEY. WILL ALSO INSURE THAT ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP HAS SIGNED UP FOR CLOCK DUTY AND METRO GUARD FOR HOME GAMES AND SCORESHEET FOR ALL AWAY GAMES.

Homecoming ParadeLHS ONLY. RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKING WITH THE RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS TO COORDINATE THE TEAM’S PARTICIPATION IN THE HOMECOMING PARADE. DUTIES INCLUDE COMPLETING ANY REQUIRED SCHOOL PAPERWORK, ORGANIZING FLOAT, ORGANIZING PLAYERS, AND BUYING CANDY

Community ServiceNEW THIS YEAR!

THESE VOLUNTEERS WILL IDENTIFY A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FOR ALL ICECATS PLAYERS TO GET INVOLVED IN. WILL INCLUDE COORDINATING WITH THE ORGANIZATION, SCHEDULING AND ANNOUNCING THE EVENT, AND INSURING TEAM ATTENDANCE

Freshman OrientationREPRESENT THE ICECATS AT THIS ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL EVENT. THESE VOLUNTEERS WILL ENSURE THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 TEAM REPRESENTATIVES AT THE EVENT TO PROMOTE OUR HOCKEY TEAMS. THEY WILL PROVIDE PLAYER INFORMATION SHEETS TO BE TURNED IN AT THE END OF THE NIGHT. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION TO BE HANDED OUT AND KEPT BY THE POTENTIAL PLAYERS. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL PROMOTE THE FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT AND SPRING HOCKEY. THIS TAKES PLACE JAN – MARCH.

“Pink Out” Event CommitteeTHESE VOLUNTEERS WILL ORGANIZE OUR ANNUAL SUSAN G. COMAN FUNDRAISING EVENT. INCLUDES IDENTIFYING SPONSORS, SETTING UP SILENT AUCTION, DECORATING RINK, COORDINATING WITH THE TEAM, ETC. A BIG EVENT FOR THE ICECATS!

“Fan Appreciation” Event Committee

THIS EVENT IS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR. IT IS OUR CHANCE TO SHOWCASE OUR ORGANIZATION AND TO INVITE ANY INCOMING FRESHMAN TO SEE WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT. THIS EVENT WILL REQUIRE A CO-ORDINATOR AND VOLUNTEERS. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL ENSURE THAT THERE IS AMPLE PUBLICITY, VIA THE WEBSITE, SCHOOL WEBSITE AND THROUGH THE INFORMATION THAT IS GATHERED AT EACH SCHOOL’S FRESHMAN ORIENTATION NIGHT. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL ENSURE THAT THERE IS FOOD AND BEVERAGES OFFERED AT THE END OF THE GAME. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL NOTIFY GLACIER ICE HOCKEY ARENA OF THE EVENT AND TO ARRANGE FOR THE MEETING ROOM TO SERVE THE FOOD AND BEVERAGES.

“Senior Night” Event CommitteeTHIS EVENT WILL REQUIRE A CO-ORDINATOR AND VOLUNTEERS. THE VOLUNTEERS MUST BE FROM SENIOR’S PARENTS AND WITH A MINIMUM OF TWO JUNIOR’S PARENTS. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT THE VOLUNTEERS WILL CARRY ON FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR WHEN THEIR PLAYERS ARE SENIORS. SOME OF THE TASKS FOR THE SENIOR NIGHT ARE HAVING A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR FAMILY PICTURES, POSTERS, AND PENANTS ETC. THE CO-ORDINATOR WILL WORK WITH THE SCHOOL LIASON TO ENSURE THAT THIS EVENT IS PUBLICIZED.

Award Banquet CommitteeTHIS COMMITTEE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ORGANIZING THE ICECATS SEASON ENDING BANQUET. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL PROVIDE THE BOARD WITH ALL DETAILS. THEY WILL SET THE BANQUET DATE, AND LOCATION AND SEND OUT INVITATIONS. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL WORK WITH THE BANQUET LOCATION FOR FOOD AND BEVERAGE AND DECORATIONS. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL HAVE TROPHIES AND OTHER AWARDS, FOR EXAMPLE, HONOR ROLE CERTIFICATES, LETTERS, INDIVIDUAL PLAYER AWARDS (TO BE DETERMINED BY THE COACHING STAFF), TROPHIES AND PLAQUES. THE VOLUNTEERS WILL ARRANGE FOR ANY GIFTS. IT IS DESIRABLE TO HAVE VOLUNTEERS FROM PARENTS OF JUNIOR, SOPHMORE AND FRESHMAN PLAYERS.

Tournament CoordinatorsVOLUNTEERS WILL ARRANGE ANY TEAM GATHERINGS DURING THE TOURNAMENTS. THE VOLUNTEER WILL HAVE COPIES OF RULES/REGULATIONS, MAPS TO THE ARENAS/HOTELS/RESTAURANTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS. THE VOLUNTEER WILL ARRANGE IN ADVANCE ANY RESTAURANTS RESERVATIONS OR ANY OTHER SOCIAL EVENTS DURING THE TOURNAMENT. .

Zero Tolerance

Inappropriate and disruptive behavior shall include, but is not limited to, thefollowing:· Use of obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at anytime.· Taunting of players, coaches, officials, or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, threat of physical violence or verbal abuse.· Throwing of any object in the spectators viewing area, player’s bench, penalty box or on the ice surface directed in any manner as to create a safety hazard.· The use of air-horns, bullhorns, laser pointers, loud speakers and similardevices is prohibited.

Student Code of ConductKnowingly use, attempt to use, possess, sell, or assist any other student in the use of the following:a. tobacco/tobacco productsb. alcoholic beverages – some examples may include but are not limited to, transporting alcohol or drugs/drug paraphernalia in your car, consumption of alcohol, orc. Any form of controlled substance/drugs/look-a-like drug paraphernalia other than those prescribed by a physician for that student.2. Exhibit gross misconduct or behavior/citizenship (outside of CLUB organized games and practices)

Student Code of Conduct

If there is an alleged violation of the CODE, the athlete’s privilege of participating in hockey games is immediately withdrawn and a meeting will be held to discuss the infraction. The parent/guardian shall be notified and advised of the date and time of this meeting. This meeting will include the athlete, parents/guardian and the Icecats Hockey Board officers and include the coach, as well as other people involved with the alleged violation.The CODE record and consequences are cumulative beginning with the student athlete and parents signing of this CODE and continuing throughout the athlete’s entire high school career. These policies are in effect on or off campus throughout the entire calendar year, including weekends and summer break.
