Dear Parents,
The reports enclosed with this letter differ in layout from the previous style. Thereport booklets are a little larger but the report content remains as before eachteachers view of your childs performance and progress. In the core subjects ofMaths, English and Science, you are provided with your childs previous, current andpredicted attainment level within the National Curriculum. In order that this makessome sense to you, there is then a guide to what these levels mean on the backcover of the report. If you would like further explanation or any further information,
please ask. If you have comments good or bad about these changes, please letme know. You could even start a discussion on our Extranet Forum!
On this latter point, please let me try and encourage you to use the Extranet asmuch as possible. As the electronic world expands, there are ever more stipulationsabout how we communicate with parents and the Extranet is set up to allowcommunication electronically, meeting the requirement for this to be the case by2012. In any case, you will be aware that we are moving increasingly towardspublishing the calendar and other notices via the Extranet site. There are manyadditional features: displays of artwork, match reports, directions to other schoolsfor away matches and a complete list of School policies. For those of you whoprefer hard copies, these will still be available, upon request, from the School Office.
Unfortunately we have been without Julie Naylor all of last term due to familyillness. David Hardy has run a percussion workshop during music lessons but helacks the necessary skills to have enabled us to deliver the Cabaret in a Day! So,we decided to postpone this (note postpone, not cancel!) until early next term.
And so to next term Easter will barely be over when we return on Tuesday 26th
(NOT Monday 25th) April. And just three days later there is an additional BankHoliday to celebrate the royal wedding. I do not wish to deny anyone theopportunity to join in with these celebrations and so I will grant leave of absence tothe royalists amongst you. However, School will be in session and so, if you intendto keep the children at home for that day, please email me or write a short note to
confirm this. If at all possible we will have a normal School day with wedding cakeas pudding at lunchtime! There are also plans afoot for a street party from mid-afternoon up until home time.
Weve had a good term busy and productive. Life is good and the children gain somuch from the vigour and good humour of your astonishingly committed staff.Please tell everyone you know and drag them (kicking and screaming if necessary)to our Open Day scheduled for Saturday 21st May. We need all the children we canfind in these pressured times.
On that note, I am pleased to confirm (many of you seem to have heard!) thatBeckie and I are expecting our third child in August. But we cant fill the School on
our own.
