    Learning Objective By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

    (i) Name characters in the story

    (ii) Respond to simple questions based on the story

    Activity Pre-Listening :1. Teacher shows picture of a caterpillar and mouse.

    2. Teacher asks Wh-Questions based on the pictures.

    While Listening :

    1.Teacher tells and explains the story The Caterpillar and The Mouse.

    2. Teacher asks questions based on the story and pupils respond.

    What are the animals in the story? Where did the mouse meet the Cater? When did the mouse go and see the Cater again?

    What happen to the Cater?

    How did the Cater change into a butterfly?

    3. Teacher and pupils read together the story projected on the slide.

    Post-listening

    1. Teacher divides pupils into groups.

    2. Each group will get an envelope with sentence strips whichcontain different part of story.

    3. Pupils arrange the sentence strips according to the story.

    4. Each group present according to the story.

    5. Teacher concludes the lesson.

    The Caterpillar and the Mouse

    Once upon a time, there lived a friendly mouse in a smallcottage. He enjoyed going for walks in the woods. One day, he saw

    a fat caterpillar on a yellow leaf.

    Hello there! Are you new here? Lets be friends!

    Since that day, the mouse and the caterpillar became

    close friends.

    Three weeks later, the mouse came back and saw that the

    caterpillar was not there anymore. The mouse waited for the

    caterpillar. Suddenly a beautiful butterfly emerged from the tall

    trees.

    Hello Mr. Mousey, why are you so sad?

    Have you seen my friend Cater? Cater is not here!

    Dont you recognize me, Mr. Mousey? I am your friend!

    The mouse was shocked and laughed. He could not believe it

    was Cater. The butterfly explained how Cater became a butterfly.

    Now, listen carefully, Mr. Mouse. I hatched from an egg.

    People called me caterpillar. I ate a lot of leaves. I became fat.Then, people called me a pupa. I was resting in pupa for some

    time. Finally, from a pupa, I became a butterfly.

    Wow! It sounds like magic and you are more beautiful now.

    Together they laughed happily.
