Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in TLE-Electrical/Electronics

Concept: Resistor Color Code is a system of colors used to indicate the resistance value of resistors that uses colored stripes or bands printed on its body.

Value Concept: Color plays a vitally important role in the world in which we live. Color can be a form of communication. Color can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions.

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students expected to:1. Identify the colors of resistor color coding accordingly. 2. Calculate the value of resistors based on the color code.3. Adhere to the importance of using color.

II. Subject Matter: Resistor Color CodingA. References

Books:a. Simple Electronics by Michael Q. Enriques, et.al. pp 103-107b. Technology and Livelihood Education by Estifania Gloria L. Lee, pp 269-271

III. Learning ActivitiesA. Preliminary Activities1. Prayer/Greetings/Introduction.2. Review of the previous topic. a. What is resistor?3. Motivation A.: Ask the students about traffic lights.

a. What is a traffic light?b. How does traffic lights work?c. What are in the traffic lights?

4. Motivation B:a. Provide resistor to every student for them to examine.b. Ask students on their observation of the given resistor.

B. Lesson Proper1. Introduce resistor color coding* Explain the concept of resistor color code.2. Introduce the colors involve in resistor color coding. See the visual aid. 3. Give the technique how to remember the colors.* Big Boys Race Our Young Girls But Violet Generally Wins Get Serious Now* Better Be Right Or Your Great Big Venture Goes West Get Serious Now

4. Discuss the designation of the 4 colors/bands resistors. 1st color/band: 1st digit2nd color/band: 2nd digit3rd color/band: Multiplier4th color/band: Tolerance

5. Give at least 3 examples on how to read the value of resistor based on its colors. 6. Ask at least 2 students to read the value of resistor given to them based on a given colors.7. Discuss the designation of the 4 colors/bands resistors.

1st color/band: 1st digit2nd color/band: 2nd digit

3rd color/band: 3rd digit4th color/band: Multiplier5th color/band: Tolerance

8. Then give at least 3 examples on how to name the colors of resistor from a given resistor value. 9. Ask at least 2 students to read the value of resistor given to them based on a given colors.10. Ask the students if they are able to follow the discussion.

C. Generalization: Ask questions that would elicit the ides/concepts taken. What is color coding of resistor? How to determine the nominal values of resistors?

D. Valuing: Using the value concept, let the students do the valuing based on the questions. Why are colors important? How do you relate colors in your daily life?

IV. Evaluation: Determine the value of the following resistors1. Brown, Black, Red, Gold= 1kΩ ±5%2. Yellow, Violet, Gold, Gold= 4.7Ω ±5%3. 100kΩ ±10%= Brown, Black, Yellow, Silver4. Green, Blue, Black, Black, Brown= 560Ω ±1%5. Orange, Orange, Black, Red, Brown= 33kΩ ±1%

V. Assignment1. What is the other method of determining the values of resistors?
