The Sum of Consecutive Numers

Consecutive  in order.

4, 5, 6 are consecutive integers.

Consecutive odd numbers means odd numbers in order, such as 7, 9, 11.

Consecutive even numbers means even numbers in order, such as 4, 6, 8

The Sum of Consecutive Numers

1. The sum of three consecutive integers is 9. Write an equation to find the integers.

We don't know the first number, so let's call it "x".

x plus 1 more will give us the second number. x plus 2 more will give us the third number.

x + (x+1) + (x+2) = 9

This could also be:

3x + 3 = 9
