His Early Years1452, April 15th, Leonardo da Vinci was born in the village of Anchiano, Florence, Italy.Leonardo received an informal education of Latin, geometry and mathematics as well as reading and writing ItalianHe was captivated by his exploration of the nature local to where he lived. Leonardo treated his surroundings as a laboratory as well as his playground.1466 (14 years old) Leonardo's father took his son to be apprenticed to one of the finest Artists known at the time - Andrea Del Verrocchio.

Leonardo assisted Verrocchio paint the altar piece:The Baptism of Christ.He painted the angel kneeling on the far left and repaired the landscape and the body of Christ. It was at this time he used oil paints instead of using egg tempera.
