Slide 2 Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci April 15, 1452 May 2, 1519 By Logan Dueas Slide 3 His Early Years 1452, April 15th, Leonardo da Vinci was born in the village of Anchiano, Florence, Italy. Leonardo received an informal education of Latin, geometry and mathematics as well as reading and writing Italian He was captivated by his exploration of the nature local to where he lived. Leonardo treated his surroundings as a laboratory as well as his playground. 1466 (14 years old) Leonardo's father took his son to be apprenticed to one of the finest Artists known at the time - Andrea Del Verrocchio. Slide 4 1475 The Baptism of Christ - Andrea Del Verrocchio. Leonardo da Vinci Leonardo assisted Verrocchio paint the altar piece: The Baptism of Christ. He painted the angel kneeling on the far left and repaired the landscape and the body of Christ. It was at this time he used oil paints instead of using egg tempera. Slide 5 1495 - 1498 The Last Supper Most Famous Work Slide 6 1503 1519 Mona Lisa La Gioconda - Most Famous Work 1487 - The Vitruvian Man Slide 7 His Writting Leonardo wrote in Italian He wrote Right to Left You would need a mirror to read his writing Slide 8 His Machine sketches Ornithopter Flying Machine Glider Slide 9 Unfinished Sculpture He spent a number of years drawing sketches of a horse to get the details just right before sculpting a clay model which was to be cast in stone later. Da Vinci is considered to be a Renaissance man, for he was skilled in many subjects, and is admired for all his accomplishments. He pioneered the sciences and developed new art techniques.
