IntroductionThe safety instructions (see Safety Instruc-tions) and the user manual should be readthrough carefully before the product is usedfor the first time.

The person responsible for the product mustensure that all users understand these dir-ectionsand adhere to them.

The symbols used have the followingmeanings:

WARNING

Indicatesa potentially hazardous situation or anunintended use which, if not avoided, will result indeath or serious injury.

CAUTION

Indicatesa potentially hazardous situation or anunintended use which, if not avoided, may result inminor injury and/or appreciablematerial, financialand environmental damage.

Important paragraphswhichmust beadhered to in practice as theyenable theproduct to be used in a technically correctand efficient manner.

Levelling lock

Levelling unlocked

In the unlocked position the instrument auto-matically levels itself within the specified inclin-ation range. (See Technical data)

Levelling locked

Turn the levelling lock in order to transport or tiltthe instrument beyond the self-levelling range. When locked, the pendulum is fixed and the self-levelling function is deactivated. In this case thelaser blinksevery 5sec.

Instrument Set-up

Laser receiverTo be able to detect the laser linesover long dis-tancesor in unfavourable lighting conditions, alaser receiver can be used.

We recommend the Leica RGR200 laserreceiver.

The Lino is powered byXRANGE technologyandtherefore automatically detected by the receiver.

Li-Ion battery

Charge Li-Ion battery

Charge the Li-Ion battery before using it for thefirst time. While charging, the instrument mayheatup. This is normal and should not affect the instru-ment´s lifespan or performance. At the recom-mended storage temperature of -20°C to +30°C(-4°F to +86°F), batteries containing a 50%to100%charge can be stored up to 1 year. After thisstorage period the batteriesmust be recharged.

CAUTION

Connecting the charger using the wrong adaptermaycause seriousdamage to the instrument. Anydamage caused bymisuse is not covered bywar-ranty. Use only Leica-approved chargers, bat-teries and cables. Unapproved chargers or cablescan cause the battery to explode or damage theinstrument.

Accuracy CheckAc c u ra c y Ch e c k

Check the accuracyof your Leica Lino reg-ularly and particularly before important meas-uring tasks. Check Levelling lockbeforechecking the accuracy.

Levelling

Checking the accuracy of the levelling

Set the instrument on a tripod half-waybetweentwo walls (A+B) that are approx. 5m apart. Placethe lock switch in the "Unlocked" position (see Lev-elling lock). Direct the instrument at wall A andswitch on the instrument. Activate the horizontallaser line or laser point andmark the position ofthe line or the point on wall (A1). Rotate the instru-ment by180° andmark the horizontal laser line orthe laser point in exactly the samewayon wall(B1).

Then place the instrument at the same elevationas close aspossible to wallA and againmark thehorizontal laser line or the laser point on wallA(A2). Rotate the instrument by180° again andmark the laser on wallB (B2). Measure the dis-tancesof themarked pointsA1-A2 and B1-B2.Calculate the difference of the twomeas-urements.

|(A1 - A2) - (B1 - B2)| <=2mm

If the difference doesnot exceed 2mm, then theLeica Lino iswithin tolerance.

Should your Leica Lino be outside of the spe-cified tolerance, please contact a local dealeror an authorised Leica Geosystemsdis-tributor.

Accuracy Check

Vertical and horizontal line

Checking the accuracy of the horizontal line

Place the lock switch in the "Unlocked" position(see Levelling lock). Position the instrumentapprox. 5m away from the wall. Direct the instru-ment at the wall and switch on. Activate the laserline andmark the intersection point of lasercrosshairs on the wall. Swivel the instrument to theright and then to the left. Observe the vertical devi-ation of the horizontal line from themarking. If thedifference doesnot exceed 3mm, then the LeicaLino iswithin tolerance.

Checking the accuracy of the vertical line

Place the lock switch in the "Unlocked" position(see Levelling lock). Asa reference, use a plumb-bob and attach it as close aspossible to an approx.3m high wall. Position the instrument at a distanceof approx. 1.5m from the wall at an elevation ofapprox. 1.5m. Direct the instrument at the walland switch on. Rotate the instrument and align itwith the bottom of the plumb line. Now read off themaximum deviation of the laser line from the top ofthe plumb line. If the difference doesnot exceed 2mm, then the Leica Lino iswithin tolerance.

Should your Leica Lino be outside of the spe-cified tolerance, please contact a local dealeror an authorised Leica Geosystemsdis-tributor.

CareCa re

Never immerse the device in water.Wipe off dirtwith a damp soft cloth. Never use aggressivecleaning agents or solvents. Treat the instrumentwith the same care that you would apply to bin-oculars or a camera. Dropping or violent shakingof the instrument maydamage it. Check the instru-ment for anydamage before using it. Check thelevelling accuracyof the instrument regularly.

To warranty the best precision and visibility pleaseclean the optics of your device regularly. There-fore blow off the dust from the glasseswithouttouching the opticswith your fingers. If necessaryuse a damp soft cloth and a little bit of pure alcohol.

To avoid wrongmeasurements also clean youradapters regularly. This could be done also by theproposed recommendation. Especially the inter-face between the adapter and device shouldalwaysbe clean to enable easy rotation. To cleanthemagnetic surface you could use compressedair or modelling clay.

If the equipment get wet alwaysdry it (max.70°C/158°F) before repacking it into the case.
