A shooting star is actually a meteor made up of rock. As it is pulled into the earth’s atmosphere it burns up, this makes the rock glow.
We see this glow as a shooting star.
Facts
This glow does not last long. The burning rock looks like a star is falling in the sky.
There are lots of rock in space. Some of these rocks will crash into Earth’s atmosphere and burn up.
Conclusion
• In conclusion shooting stars are not stars but rocks that enter Earth’s atmosphere and burn up. The burning rock glows in the night sky for just a short time.
