July 2012 Mayor’s Message: Great Things are Happening in Lehi City! Businesses, jobs, and shopping are heading our way and bring a new element of excitement to Lehi City. Projects such as Adobe and the Outlets at Traverse Mountain are underway and scheduled to make a debut later this year bringing with them hundreds of jobs and new attractions. Office: Currently under construction is Phase 1 of the 670,000 square-foot Adobe Campus which will bring at least 1,000 new jobs to the area. Phase 1 is 270,000 square feet and two future phases are planned which will add an addi- tional 400,000 square feet of office space. The site is located on the western edge of the Traverse Mountain commu- nity just off of I-15. Adobe is a computer software company and is the producer of well-known programs such as Photo- shop and Flash. Adobe is the third addition of a major computer software/manufacturing company to Lehi. Other companies include Microsoft and IM Flash. Adobe has an expected opening date in November of this year. In addi- tion to Adobe’s campus, the Thanksgiving Park development just west of the Timpanogos highway/I -15 interchange is adding a new third building to their campus and a fourth one is in the cue. Each building consists of 180,000 square feet of class A professional office space and major current tenants include Microsoft, ProPay, Agel Sorensen Capital and SirsiDynix to name a few. Retail: The Outlets at Traverse Mountain is an exciting new retail center located at Traverse Mountain just to the southeast of Cabelas. Upon completion there will be 387,000 square feet of retail space including 80 stores. This out- door outlet mall will have some unique defining features such as landscaping in the walkways, a glass awning covering the walkways and a large two story fireplace as the center piece. This project is scheduled to have a grand opening in November before the holidays. Restaurants: New and different restaurants have recently opened in Lehi including Buffalo Wild Wings and Culver's. As more new restaurants and places of entertainment are built in Lehi, the need to travel long distances to go to these types of attractions is minimized. Mayor’s Message: Great Things are Happening in Lehi City!

Phase 1 is 270,000 square feet and two future phases are planned which will add an addi-tional 400,000 square feet of office space. The site is located on the western edge of the Traverse Mountain commu-nity just off of I-15. Retail: The Outlets at Traverse Mountain is an exciting new retail center located at Traverse Mountain just to the southeast of Cabelas. Lehi Library

Summer programming is in full swing at the library. Story Time (ages 2-5) is M-Th at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 & 12:30. Kid's Club (ages 6-11) is also M-Th at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 & 12:30. You won't want to miss the fun puppet shows during the last week of summer session on July 23, 25, & 26. No sign-ups required, please come!

Celebrate Reading with the Alpine School District teachers on Tuesday, July 31, from 10-11:30 a.m. Enjoy Magic in the Park, an end of summer session party held at Wines Park on Wednesday, August 1, at 10 a.m. There will be an amazing magic show presented by Al Lampkin, an award winning ma-gician. Everyone is welcome to participate in this free event!

Another Boy's Only session has been added. If you want to sign up for it or for Great Reads or She's Crafty, please visit the web-site at www.lehi-ut.gov/discover/library/events. All registrations will now be done from the web-site (there is no need to sign up at the front desk). The adult class in July will be making Hula Hoop rugs on Wednesday, July 11, at 7 p.m. The class is for ages 12 and up. Please bring a 33" Hula Hoop and about 100 1" strips of tee-shirt loops to make your rug.

Don't forget to make regular visits to the library during the summer to keep your children reading at least 20 minutes a day. It will help them to be better prepared when school starts up again. We also have a large collection of books for adults to enjoy. Come check them out! The library will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, for Independ-ence Day, Tuesday, July 24, for Pioneer Day, and on Saturday, July 28, for inventory.

Volunteers Needed One hour, once a week, is all it takes to make a difference! Meals-on-Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to home-bound seniors during the summer. Volunteers use their own vehicles to deliver lunchtime meals once a week to homebound seniors. Along with each meal, volunteers provide a special touch of comfort and a daily safety check enabling seniors to stay in their own homes. Meals will be picked up and delivered to seniors in a five mile radius. Delivering meals takes approxi-mately one hour to complete. For more information about delivering Meals-on-Wheels, contact Stephanie Benson at 801-229-3821 or [email protected], or register online at www.mountainland.org/volunteer.

Win the Mayor’s Summer Photo contest! The Mayor wants to see your summer photos taken in Lehi!

The winner will receive a credit on their utility bill and the

winning photo will be featured on the city’s website.

Email your photo to [email protected]. You may

submit more than one photo.

The deadline for the summer photo contest is

July 25, 2012.

The Mayor is urging residents to conserve water this summer due to the hot and dry conditions. Please consider the follow-ing tips to conserve our city’s water.

Water landscape only as much as required by the type of landscape. See www.conservewater.utah.gov for a weekly lawn watering guide.

Sweep sidewalks and driveways instead of using the hose to clean them off.

Wash your car from a bucket of soapy (biodegradable) water and rinse while parked on or near the grass or land-scape so that all the water running off goes to beneficial use instead of running down the gutter to waste.

Check for and repair leaks in all pipes, hoses, faucets, cou-plings, valves, etc.

Use mulch around trees and shrubs, as well as in your garden to retain as much moisture as possible.

Visit the Lehi City website for more tips.

Transportation: UTA’s Frontrunner is now testing the tracks. Passenger services are scheduled to begin in December. Also, the Main Street redevelopment construction project is sched-uled to begin the second week in July. Visit the city’s website for more information.

Other: The Lehi City Building Department issued 425 residen-tial building permits since January 1, of this year. This is up 60 percent from 2011.

There are defiantly more projects scheduled to come! Please visit the city’s website often for the most up to date informa-tion.

As a caregiver, you may be feeling alone. You don’t have as much time to socialize now that you have to care for your eld-erly relative, and even your own family may not understand what you are going through. If this sounds like you, you might want to try to find a support group and get the understanding and support you need. Please join us for a complimentary lunch, educational topic and plenty of time to visit with other caregivers. For details including times and locations, call Geri Lehnardt (801) 229-3814 or [email protected]. Form more information go to www.mountainland.org and click on Aging and Family Services.

Congratulations to the new Miss Lehi, Jessica Connolly, and her attendants, Jaden Bliss (right), and Caitlin Thomas (left).

Lehi City wants to thank Alex Richardson, Miss Lehi 2011, for her exceptional year of service to Lehi! Thanks for making our community even better!
