Jennifer Slick Secretary t1 _____________________ Local Family takes ownership of Oprisko’s Kielbasa, Simpson Good news for customers of Oprisko’s Polish Kielbasa! Myron Oprisko and his son Ken Oprisko have made kiel- basa for 69 years for many area residents as well as out-of-town natives from the East to the West Coast for their holiday traditions. Since Myron passed away, Ken continued the tradition of making and providing products to their many loyal customers. Now that Ken is geing older and wants to fully retire, he is concerned about having Oprisko’s kielbasa avail- able for the community. After 69 years of business, none of the fam- ily members wanted to continue running the business. It is with great pride and comfort, Ken has announced a local family who has enjoyed Oprisko’s kielbasa for years, has purchased Oprisko’s Kielbasa operation. The recipe, the location, the phone number and customer service will remain the same under the new owner- ship of David Rupp. David is very concerned about tradition and he is excited about carrying on the Oprisko legacy for customers so they can enjoy the kielbasa for years to come. Since David is a local resident, he has plans to open the store on a more regular basis and expand the number of products available. Needless to say, he will continue to make the kielbasa the old- fashioned way with no artificial casings, the best Hatfield pork bus and fruit wood smoking. David has been tutored by Ken in continuing to make kielbasa the Oprisko way. Ken will miss the customers and the store but he and his wife want to travel and spend more time with family. The business has been a success and is still growing which is a testament to the customers. It is with great confidence that Ken gives his full endorsement to David and his success with making Oprisko’s kielbasa. David Rupp is a teacher of the Western Wayne School District and has lived in Whites Crossing for the majority of his life. “Last Easter I was at Oprisko’s pur- chasing my Easter kielbasa and I overheard Ken talking to another customer. Ken was looking to re- tire and a company was coming down from New York to possibly purchase the recipe, equipment and move it to New York. Opris- ko’s Kielbasa has been a local tra- dition for many families during the holidays. I couldn’t imagine not being able to purchase the best polish kielbasa any longer. When I sat down with Ken the biggest part of the equation, which I didn’t realize, is how much of a tradition it is to others around the country,” said Rupp. Over 150 people, from out of state, order Oprisko’s Kielbasa for their holidays. Oprisko’s Kielbasa gets shipped to Florida, Texas, Or- egon, California and even Alaska. Now that is a testament to how good Oprisko’s Kielbasa really is. “I want to guarantee customers that Oprisko’s Kielbasa will con- tinue to be made the exact same way it has been in the past. The smoked and fresh kielbasa, white and red horseradish, city chicken, and buer lambs for Easter will all be available, but we will also be offering kielbasa rings and paies with cheddar, mozzarella, mild jalapeno, and hot jalapeno cheese, and Amish jarred goods,” stated Rupp. The store will be open for Eas- ter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Holidays. We will open the doors this Labor Day season from 10 am to 7pm on Friday, Au- gust 26th; Saturday August, 27th; Friday, September 2nd, and Satur- day, September 3rd. So come out this Labor Day and get your old fashion favorite taste and try one of the new products. No maer your pleasure I think it will be the best polish kielbasa you have ever eaten.
