Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

So What’s Next in This Transition Time?

Trinity Lutheran Church is in a time of Pastoral Transition, and has wisely chosen to use this transition as an opportunity to engage in an intentional interim process. This is a two-step process beginning with the formation of a Transition Team (TT) and moving on to the formation of a Call Committee.

During the first step, the Transition Team is responsible for the development of a Ministry Site Profile (MSP) which is done in conversation with the congregation in a variety of ways to receive both input and to give feedback in an open and transparent review and assessment of:

Who we are,

Where we have been,

Who God is calling us to be,

What God is calling us to do, in our next chapter of ministry?

This is a time for listening, gathering up and sharing the work of the Crossroads Teams, inviting congregational input and feedback until the MSP has been widely shared and deeply owned by the congregation. The TT will take as much time as we need to do this work and have this conversation while also trying to keep moving us toward an affirmation of the MSP as an accurate expression of who we are, where we have been and where we believe God is calling us in our next chapter of ministry.

This is where you come in:

We are gathering nominations for the Transition Team. You are invited to prayerfully consider this important piece of the transition. If you would like to be considered to serve on the Transition Team or if you would like to nominate someone else, please fill out the application, which can be found on our website: trinitylutheranchurch.com/transition.

As a congregation, we will vote on and affirm the Transition Team at a Congregational Meeting & Potluck on Sunday, September 10 at Noon.

Mystery Trip Highlights

The thirteen high school students and three adults returned from their 10 day, 1,450 mile journey around the Pacific Northwest. The trip was great! We visited Steven’s pass, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. We served in Seattle, Spokane and Portland. We crossed so many rivers we lost count, but spent the day on the Deschutes.

All obstacles the team faced became a learning opportunity and we experienced God’s presence in

answered prayers, safety and a community of peace and joy. We worked with 5 agencies and two congregations in the areas of hunger, homelessness and community outreach. We experienced record setting heat in Portland, mechanical challenges with the van and 6 congregation’s generosity in sharing their facilities with us.

Watch for pictures and more on the Student Ministry bulletin board, near the elevator in the coming weeks.
