Dog House

ReflectionStrengths:• Successfully got to designed the

interior of my dog house. With the help of 3D warehouse I could install a fireplace, a chandelier, a food tray, and of course a bed.

• At first it was kind of difficult to start using the offset tool, however, I got it down and successfully created the triangle part of the roof.

• Also, playing around with the shadow, helped me create a more sophisticated look.

Weaknesses: • It took me a while to create the

windows and making everything be accurate.

Crazy Cube Arrays in Space

ReflectionsStrengths:• Successfully create cube,

transformed it into a component, and replicated multiple times to create complex arrays.

• Zoomed into the array, turned my shadows on, and placed several human figures for scale to create dramatic shot.

Challenges:• I need to learn how to use

rapid visualization techniques to hand draw something similar to what I produced in sketchUp.

Reflection:

StrengthsI successfully got to convert these exercise into a building with added features which turned out to be a more fun and interesting piece. I plaid around with the painting bucket which helped my piece look better. In both pieces I successfully used the follow-me and the push pull tools. Also, i copied the same shape more than twice with no trouble.

OpportunitiesThis project was very fun for me. It was more of a freestyle kind of project and I can say it really helped me out a lot by getting more familiar with all the tools. When the semester first started, I would always fall behind when trying to follow instructions. Now I am to say that I can stay on track with what the instructor is directing me to do. I played with my imagination and created something totally different, with of course, the same kind of idea.

WeaknessesWhen the follow me tool was first introduced in this project, I had a very hard time trying to figure out how to use it. However, I got it down after a few tries. Another issue I had was using the rotate tool. It was hard for me to keep the button on the ground so I could rotate the stairs in different directions. I then learned to use the “shift” button so that it can get locked to the ground. This became easier to do later on but I know I still need a little bit more of practice.

Steps

For steps 1 & 2, I had to use use a variety of tools to help me get the shape I wanted. In step 2 I copied and paste the first inside circle and made it be times 11, so I could get 12 inside circles. The reason I only colored half was so that could avoid doing twice the work. Then it follows to step 3 & 4.

For steps 3 & 4, I cut the whole circle in half so that I could avoid, like I said, doing twice the work for coloring the whole circle. Instead of coloring the whole circle, I colored half of it and it cut the circle in half. That leads to step 4, where I copied the circle and flipped it around so it could make the wholeround circle again.

For the final step, all I used was my pencil tool to draw the outline of the stairs and the follow me tool to have the stairs be around the whole circle. Also I added 2 arcs on the sides where the stairs were also built.

The final look was a statue on the middle and of course, a few people to make it look a little bit morerealistic.

Reflection

Strengths

I was a little bit more familiar with the majority of the tools that I used on this project, so that helped me managed my time better.

I easily got to play around with 3D warehouse and finding the right images I wanted to use to make it look a little more realistic.

I believe my creativity is improving due to SketchUp. It is really helping me be more creative with what I want to do next.

Weaknesses

Despite all my successes, I definitely had more more challenges. One of the tools that I got stuck on for a while was “Follow Me.” I could not get it to work. I tried so many times and that made me fall behind a bit.

Also, getting all the measurements right was a little bit hard for me, I kept forgetting what measurements I was using, which also caused me to fall behind. However, I did not let this beat me, I came to writing every measurement down.

This project has so far been one of the toughest for me because of the many challenges I faced. But at the end it all came out exactly how I pictured it.

Reflection

Strengths

This project was by far one of the simplest task for me. Since I was already familiar with the tools I used, that made it way easier for me in general. I successfully got to duplicate 5 more rooms to show the many types of floors I created. I also learned how to use the “layers” tool; with that I made other rooms disappear so that I could have a better focus on what I was doing. After coming up with the many floor patters I decided to create, I successfully played around with the paint bucket to get a more sophisticated look.

Weaknesses

I have to admit, getting creative with the floor patters was a real challenge for me. I had never had to think about floor patters since to me floors are always pretty simple. However, this challenged me to be more creative on everything else that I work on.

Opportunities

Like I said before, this helped me be more creative with the simplest things. Now I can say I am becoming more passionate about my work and I hope I can reflect this with the outcomes of my current and future work.

ReflectionSuccesses-This project was quite fun. I had to get real creative with tracing the image and making it into a 3D design. -I successfully built a 3D design with many different types ofshapes. -I added color so it can have a more sophisticated look. -I also added some tress so that the environment would more realistic. -Finally, I got even more creative and added Godzilla.

Page 24: Learning portfolio in progress v 1 0

Weaknesses-It was a little hard to get creative with the buildings I was trying to create. I didn’t really know what to add, or even what color topaint them. However, I believethe outcome was a great success.

-The tress were also hard to to place; not a lot of tress wereneeded, but I failed at realizing that and basically filled up thewhole ground with tress. Later on that became a waste of time because I had to delete many tresssince they were on the way of the building view.

INSIDE LOOK

Page 28: Learning portfolio in progress v 1 0

ReflectionSuccesses-I successfully, duplicated more of the folding pavilion to create a sealing for the building. -I created openings through the walls, so that it won’t just be solid walls. That made the piece have a better flow. -Through warehouse (my favorite place), I had the chance to add some items to the piece could have a more warm feeling. -I created some stairs that go around to the side of the wall.-I also created some railings in the other side for safety.

Weaknesses-Using the Rotating toll was still a bit of a challenge for me. However, I believe I am getting better and that I will just continue to grow more knowledge and experience.
