Children’s ability to perform linked to PERFORMANCE OF TEACHERS

Reports suggest that TEACHERS DON’T LACK SUBJECT KNOW HOW but are NOT

TRAINED enough to cater to individual needs of children

It is a known rhetorically that ALL INDIVIDUALS ARE UNIQUE and so are their

learning and understanding abilities

Some kids learn FASTER, some are comparatively SLOW

Some are VISUAL learners, others are AUDITORY learners, and still some others

learn faster from KINESTHETIC techniques.

MI AND VAK provides the teachers with tools that can help them

Identify INDIVIDUAL ABILITIES and inclinations

Identify INDIVIDUAL LEARNING STYLES

NEED FOR IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES

OUTCOME ANALYSIS

Students in the current generation are exposed to knowledge and application

of IT tools at a very early age

School Education Department asserts that teachers should possess basic ICT

skills in the age of Information Technology

Teachers in Maharashtra to a great extent lack ICT skills – which was also

evident from learning outcomes survey / feedback.

Departments future focus is on extensive use of ICT tools and techniques in

pedagogy

Keeping in mind the above scenario Accenture was asked to include ICT

training as additional scope to Learning Outcomes Programme

Accenture submitted a training and content framework which relates to the

application based ICT trainings in education

Extending the Program to Upper Primary Schools

Centralized Portal for managing trainings across the State

STEPS TO BE TAKEN GOING FORWARD

Page 42: Learning outcomes e awards

Copyright © 2014 Accenture All rights reserved. 42

Upper Primary Teacher strength is 30% of the total teachers in Maharashtra

The largest number of drop-outs are from Upper Primary to Secondary sections

Various Educational Reports (NAT, MHRD, etc.) highlight the gaps in learning

abilities of students at Upper Primary level

Students are not able to cope with the increasing difficulty level of the syllabus

Learning Outcomes programme has received appreciation from Secondary

Teachers undergoing the training

Upper Primary is ideal level wherein Teachers need to be made aware of

Innovative Teaching & Learning techniques, so that

Students can respond better to the increasing difficulty level

Make them aware of their Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles

Nurture students’ confidence and power to think

Thus, reducing the drop-out rates
