Introduction This document is intended for use by software suppliers and providers that write their own software. It gives notification of the full set of tables and fields that will be available in the LARA download data for 2012/13. The download will be available in the same formats as at present. Data for the academic years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 will still be available via the current LAD download functionality and there will be no changes made to the LAD data structures. This document has been constructed to define what information will be available via a LARA download for the academic year 2012/2013. The document will identify, where appropriate, the following:

Tables that are new compared with the existing LARA 2011/12 download. Tables that were contained on the LARA 2011/12 download and have been retained

within the proposed LARA 2012/13 download. Please note that some of these tables may have had fields added to them while others may have had fields removed.

Tables that will not exist within the LARA 2012/13 download compared to the LARA 2011/12 download.

In the production of the document the following rules have been applied:

Fields that have been removed from a table have had their description replaced with the text – “FIELD DELETED IN LARA 2012/13”. In addition these fields will be marked as deleted (D) in the 'Action' column.

Fields that have been added will be marked as added (A) in the 'Action' column Fields that have been re-named will be shown within the appropriate table with the

original field marked as deleted (D) and with the renamed field shown as a new field and marked (A).

Tables that have been removed will not be shown in the document other than in a reference list.

Tables that have been renamed will be shown in the NEW TABLES section of the document. A reference will be shown in the document indicating what they have replaced.

A number of fields appear on EVERY TABLE in the download, except for FUND_PGWT_PERIODS and FUND_PGWT_FWK_PERIODS, and have been removed from the table definitions. These fields are:

New Tables

No new tables have been included in the LARA 2012/13 download compared with the 2011/12 version.


Existing 1112 Tables To Be Retained Within 1213

All existing tables within the 2011/12 LARA download have been retained within the 2012/13 version. However, some of these tables have had fields removed or added and the actual changes are identified within the body of the document. The following tables have had fields added:

New Funding Models Within Existing Tables

When a new model is included within the system, for example to support “Dual Running” of the Skills Funding Agency calculations, the following process is carried out:

A new entry for the model is included within the “FUND_MODEL_ILR_SUBSETS” table.

Any of the tables within the download that contain the field “FUND_MODEL_ILR_SUBSET_CODE” may contain records for Learning Aims or Frameworks with the new model assigned.

Please note that this process can be carried out at any time during the academic year. The model planned to support Dual Running will be implemented before the start of the new academic year so the current 1112 downloads will contain this new model.

Download Production For 12/13

For 12/13 the system will produce two different structured downloads and they will be produced in the three standard formats as at present. LARA 1112 DOWNLOAD The structure of this download will remain unaltered (see 1112 version of this document) but the data contained within it will have the following rules applied to the following tables: TABLE NAME CONTENT RULES ACADEMIC_YEARS Will contain all records. ALL_ANNUAL_VALUES Will contain records associated with

Academic Year 1112 only. AWARDING_ORGANISATIONS Will contain all records and be output in

current format and not contain the new field (UKPRN).

NOTIONAL_LEVELS_V2

This table defines levels of learning aims, using the system of levels which QCA started using in 2004 in their National Qualifications Framework (NQF). and later in their Qualifications and Credit Frameworks (QCF). This system includes Entry Level and Levels 1-8, with 'H-Higher' representing levels 4 and above. This system is used by Ofqual for most qualifications, except for some NVQ qualifications and Occupational Qualifications in the NQF. For example a Level 5 NVQ is a different level to a Level 5 Diploma in the QCF. The Level 5 NVQ would have Level 5 in the Notional_NVQ_Level_Code field and Level H in this field (because NVQs have not had levels defined in the new system). NOTIONAL_NVQ_LEVELS
