You will do General English for 3 hours every day (15 hours per week). In addition you will do another 6 hours per week of one of the following subjects:

Natural English: You will get lots of opportunity to practise your speaking skills, learn English for everyday, practical situations and learn about life in the UK. No exams, no grammar, no coursebooks – just lots of practice!

IELTS: Students who wish to study at British universities need to sit the IELTS exam to prove their level of English. On this course you will:

• Learn exam techniques to help you pass your exams

• Sit regular practice tests to assess your progress

English for Specific Purposes (Combination courses and One-to-One)

IH Aberdeen provides preparation for Cambridge exams: PET, FCE, CAE & CPE. As an approved Cambridge exam centre, at the end of your course you can sit your Cambridge exam at IH Aberdeen.

The English Language & Scottish Culture programme for the over 40s allows you to experience Scotland and meet people your own age. The programme combines lessons to help improve your English with excursions designed to show you best of what Scotland has to offer.

Tailor-made 1-1 or Combination Course options are available for whatever specialist option you need:

An experienced teacher can help you improve your English in your particular field of interest. This can include:

You will develop your General English and communication skills for 3 hours every day. In the General English classes, you will:

• Develop a strong understanding of English • Build your vocabulary • Improve your idioms and grammar • Practise listening, speaking, reading and writing • Learn to speak English more like a British person

Pre-university Preparation course

If you plan to do either an under-graduate or post-graduate course at a British university, you can join our Pre-university Preparation course. You will study General English in the mornings (15 hours), plus IELTS (10 hours).

Hours per week: 25 Level: Low intermediate (B1) – Advanced (C1) Course length: 4 weeks minimum Start date: All year (any Monday)

Hours per week: 21 (combined with 15 hours General English)

Homestay We can offer full time students the chance to live with a local family. It’s a great way for you to improve your English and get to know the Scottish way of life. Student Residence This is a great option for students who want to live in a friendly student environment. The rooms share kitchens and a lounge. Some rooms share bathrooms and some are en suite. We have a variety of options and will help you find the best one for you!
