LEADERship Alumni joined Class 22 leaders on the Island Princess for a cruise
on the St. Lucie River to the Sunset Bay Marina. Class members toured Indian-
town for their Economic Day that was coordinated by Tammy Simoneau, Crystal
Stiles, Jennifer Manning, Peter Kemp, Sue Hedgepeth and Shaun Plymale.

Alumni Celebrate 20th Anniversary - You are one of 607 leaders who
have graduated from the LEADERship program. On May 3 we will graduate
thirty more leaders from class 22. It is always an exciting evening with a few
surprises every year. If you have not been counting, you may be surprised to
learn this is the 20th Anniversary of LEADERship Martin County Alumni Asso-
ciation. The accomplishments that you have done over the past twenty years
are impressive. We invite you to join us for the celebration at the Yacht and
Country Club of Stuart to see some old and new alumni.

Tony George, of LEADERShip (class 2 red), opened his Stuart law practice in 1990
with a focus on estate planning, probate & trust administration. Tony’s practice in-
cludes guardianship, Special Needs Trusts (Medicaid, addiction & SSDI) and structur-
ing children's injury settlements. He helps parents of adult developmentally disabled
children with guardian advocacy. Tony litigates in guardianship, probate and trust.
In the community, Tony George was elected to the School Board from 1992-2000, was
appointed by the Florida Senate to the Education Standards Commission, and served
on the Health Planning Council. Tony is in his 14th year of service on the Children’s
Services Council; having been appointed by the School Board, Governor Bush and Gov-
ernor Crist.
Tony George is a candidate for the District Two MC School Board seat.

and Nicki vanVonno (class 14) were sworn in by Judges
Roberts and Levin as they donned their “Cat in the Hat”
hats. They volunteered at the library’s celebration of Dr.
Seuss’s birthday to purchase a book and donate it to the li-
brary. They were assigned to a pre-school or kindergarten
classroom to read a favorite Dr. Seuss book.

In 1998, Jason Berger (class 21) graduated from the University of Florida College of Law
with honors. He served the people of Florida as an Assistant Attorney for eleven years
and then as supervisor with the State Attorney for eight years. Jason has personally
tried and/or supervised well over one hundred jury trials, including first degree murder,
DUI manslaughter and sex crimes. In his family law, personal injury and estate plan-
ning practice he has tempered his vast courtroom and trial experience with his common
sense and people skills.
Jason has been honored with various distinguished awards and achievements; the Or-
ange County Teen Court with the Thomas S. Kirk Founders Award, authored the FL.
Statute 3 16.193(12) a DUI statute committed to protecting citizens from repeat DUI of-
fenders. In 2008, he was one of three prosecutors awarded the M.A.D.D. outstanding DUI
prosecutor of the year award. He served on Safe Space, Inc. Board of Directors along with
mentoring and instructing victims, law enforcement officers, prosecutors and grade school
students in this area for the past decade. From 2009-2010 Jason served as the Chairman of the 19th Judicial Circuit bar Griev-
ance Committees (B) and was nominated by the Chief Judge for the United States Southern District of Florida to serve on the
local Federal Judicial Reappointment Committee. The Law Office of Jason D. Berger is committed to problem solving long term
