GOLF COURSE UPDATE It is hard to believe our high school and college kids are putting their last few days here before they head back to school. I’d like to thank these kids for the dedication they’ve shown by showing up to work on time and working hard to maintain quality playing conditions during the summer temperatures. The extended forecast is predicting temperatures above normal with lower than normal precipitation rates. Aerification is just around the corner. We will be aerifying the greens September 8th and wrapping up on the 9th. We will be pulling cores, sanding, and over seeding with bentgrass. We expect the greens to be healed within two to three weeks. With the cooler weather, the deciduous trees will show off their beautiful colors and soon begin to blanket the course. We will be blowing and chopping the leaves to keep the course playable. The unveiling of the Red Wolf Golf Club on August 26 was fun to attend and we are excited for the future plans of our club. August rushed by like it was late for a tee time! But what a month it was … Congratulations to Teri Heilsburg and Tucker Keyes, our 2020 Club Champions. And congratulations to all of the other champions we crowned this summer. Despite the Covid-19-related restrictions we had a great summer at our club which culminated with the club championship and other events in August. We then crowned our club champions, hosted some great scrambles for good causes (CASA; LCSC Native Alumni), played cool golf in the heat, and renamed our venue, the Red Wolf Golf Club. Thank you everyone whom attended or watched the renaming event. As explained during the event we planned to do the renaming as part of our “opening day” festivities scheduled for April. Unfortunately, the pandemic prevented us from holding our usual over-the-top opening day and the renaming was moved to an online platform. We are very excited to step toward the future at our club and are confident that great things will continue to unfold at the Red Wolf Golf Club. At this time we are actively planning for the long-term development and enhancement of all aspects of our club facilities and property. So far we have been focused on adding value to our golf operation while investing in technology to improve customer service, accounting, security, and to meet local code requirements. The Nez Perce Tribal Enterprises is committed to an ongoing planning and investment process which will result in continuous improvement of the facilities as well as the entertainment, hospitality, and recreational opportunities offered at our club. Thank you all for being part of our club community and sharing in our growth and success at the Red Wolf Golf Club. We are excited for what the future holds! Sincerely, Kermit C. Aerification is justaround the corner. We will be aerifying the greens September 8th and wrapping upon the 9th.

But what a month it was …

Congratulations to Teri Heilsburg and Tucker Keyes, our 2020 Club Champions. And congratulations to all of the other champions we crowned this summer. Despite the Covid-19-related restrictions we had a great summer at our club which culminated with the club championship and other events in August. We then crowned our club champions, hosted some great scrambles for good causes (CASA; LCSC Native Alumni), played cool

golf in the heat, and renamed our venue, the Red Wolf Golf Club.

Thank you everyone whom attended or watched the renaming event. As explained during the event we planned to do the renaming as part of our “opening day” festivities scheduled for April. Unfortunately, the pandemic prevented us from holding our usual over-the-top opening day and the renaming was moved to an online platform. the immaculate job they have done not only during the heat-stressed summer but throughout the entire year. I have been golfing out here for 20+ years and this is the best condition the course has been in for a full season that I can recall.

The golf course and golf shop will be open early on Labor Day (Monday). Mike Waisanen and his crew will be doing our annual fall green aerification on Tuesday, September 8th. In order for them to get everything done, THE GOLF COURSE WILL BE CLOSED this day. Because of this, the GOLF SHOP AND DRIVING RANGE will also be closed. However, the restaurant and lounge will remain open. We will re-open the course, golf shop and driving range on Wednesday the 9th.

It is hard to believe that the summer months will soon be a thing of the past as we gradually ease into September and the fall season. Even though we had a few stretches of 100+ degree days, we were pretty fortunate to have a very nice summer when it comes to the weather. September is always my favorite time of year, as the mornings are cool, the afternoons aren’t scorching hot and the evenings are a perfect time to get out and enjoy some golf. I would be remised if I did not recognize Mike Waisanen and his crew for

The tournament schedule will be pretty light during September. We are hosting the Beacon Christian School Scramble on Sunday, September 13th and they get tournament tee times underway at 9:00. We wrap up the month of September with the JEKYLL & HYDE TOURNAMENT on September 26th and 27th. This is an individual 36-hole stableford scoring tournament where the first day is setup relatively easy and the second day the course will be setup difficult to test your patience. The entry fee is $50 and is open to both Men & Women. You will arrange your own tee times between 8:00 – 10:30 on Saturday and the Pro Shop will arrange pairings for Sunday

based off round 1 scores during the same time frame. Due to the COVID regulations that have been and are still in place, we unfortunately had to postpone a majority of our largest tournaments throughout the year. Rest assured though that these tournaments will be back in 2021 and for many more years to come.

As you have probably noticed, the swimming pool remained closed this year due to COVID regulations and among other things such as repairs. Our plan moving forward is to have it open again next year during the summer months.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to our 2020 Women’s Club Champion Teri Heilsberg. This is Teri’s 3rd consecutive club championship victory as she edged out the win over Helen Henry. Congrats on your big win Teri! As for the men, the 36-Hole stroke play tournament decided the seeding for the Top 4 finalists who then competed for the championship in match play format. Tucker Keyes claimed the #1 seed finishing with a 36-hole score of 149. Tucker defeated the #4 seed Pete Camerlo 2 UP in their semi-final match and Jon Eaton (#2) defeated Trevor Arnone (#3) 5 & 4 in the other semi-final match. All four players played great golf which

made for some exciting matches. This left Tucker Keyes and Jon Eaton to compete in the 36-hole match play final. Both Tucker and Jon played some very good golf throughout their match. When all was said and done, Tucker came out on top with a 7 & 6 victory. Congratulations to the finalists and especially to Tucker Keyes for his 1st Club Championship win! Complete results for both championships can be found on the Club’s website (clarkstongolfandcountryclub.com) underneath the golf course/tournaments tab.

Thank you,Jordan Mackey, Golf Pro
