Lead Bricks for Radiation ProtectionDIN 25407 / ISO 7212

2
Lead bricks are used for radiation protection walls and for shiel-ding workplaces in any shape and size. In the case of structural modifications, the individual bricks may be reused. Lead bricks are produced as a modular system based on a 50 mm grid in length, height and thickness. This can be used to solve nearly all corresponding tasks without needing adaptations.
Shape and design as per DIN 25407* and ISO 7212*. The che-vron mating faces of the joints prevent direct passage of radia-tion so that even these zones offer a protection level correspon-ding to the thickness of the wall.
The DIN and ISO standard differ in the height of the basic and head bricks. MTH lead bricks are produced to the DIN standard (basic brick 15 mm high, head brick 85 mm high). Advantage: it is easier to cut away head bricks that have to be adapted in size when fitting a wall when these are made with DIN height.
Standard version: hard lead alloy (PbSb 4). On request: low-radi-ation lead (Pb 210) for low-level measurements.

MTH supplies adjusted form bricks made to drawings for the installation of manipu-lators or cell locks.
On request: decontamination coating to facilitate the decontamination pro-cess.
The number after the code letters (multiplied by 50) indicates the thickness of the brick in Millimetres.Special shapes are indicated by a third small-print letter: n = low / l = long
The second letter indicates the brick‘s use in the wall:

In the interests of high strength and resistance to mechanical damage during transport or erection, the standard version of our lead bricks consists of a hard-lead alloy with 4% antimony (PbSb 4, based on DIN 17641) with a density of approx. 10.9 g/cm3.
Antimony can be an unsuitable alloy component if neutron ra-diation occurs in addition to gamma radiation. In this case we supply our lead bricks in other alloys.
Low-radiation lead with low Pb 210 activity is used for shielding measuring instruments (low-level measurement). The corre-sponding qualities are controlled and can be supplied with a certificate.
The surfaces of the bricks are free of cavities and cracks. Their degree of uniformity complies the minimum standard of the DIN designation „neatly cast“.
The production tolerances are approx:Thickness tolerance D0
Outer angle tolerance 90° +15‘
Inner angle tolerance 90°
They can be painted on request to facilitate decontamination.
