What is the Local Development Plan?
• An LDP is a Land Use Planning Document.
• When it is adopted it will form the basis of all planning decisions.
• The LDP is one of the 4 key salutatory documents that the Council has to produce.
• It will impact on everyone who lives, works, visits and invests in Swansea.

The Key Features• The LDP is based on a solid evidence base
(unlike previous plans).• The LDP must be extensively consulted on, and
appropriate community consultation is essential.• Four year process – the previous plan took 10
years!• Essential to work with other Council
departments (it is Corporate = EVERYONE) and Key Stakeholders (CCW, DCWW, EAW etc)
• Must be found ‘Sound’ by a WAG appointed independent inspector from the Planning Inspectorate.
