LC Product Development Scientist III (Job #: 1396)

Restek is looking for a chemist to lead the research and development of innovative stationary phase chemistries and LC separation media. The Chemist is an important part of the LC Solutions R&D group that develops and introduces new products in support of Restek’s growth goals and strategic plan.

Job Duties:

1. Generate new ideas of LC separation mechanisms or chemistries to meet customer’s needs and challenges.

2. Design, synthesize and purify LC stationary phase ligands, primarily silane compounds.

3. Bond the LC ligands on the surface of silica particles.4. Test the purity and quality of raw reagents that are involved in the

phase synthesis. Purify the raw reagents if necessary. 5. Perform the testing of HPLC columns and related products.6. Work with other chemists in the group to develop and introduce new

products in support of Restek’s growth goals and strategic plan.7. Train other chemists in the group as needed.8. Document all experiments and/or procedures and review documentation for accuracy and

completeness. Write experience reports detailing experimental design, results and conclusions, and circulate with the appropriate departments. Communicate progress on projects through monthly reports and at staff meetings.

9. Write articles and other technical marketing material aligned with planned campaigns.10.Present at external technical meetings and trade shows as assigned.11.Keep current with the LC phase chemistries and organic chemistry applicable to the field

through literature review, seminars, workshops, and continuing education.12.Practice safe working procedures and follow guidelines specified by the Environmental

Health and Safety Department, especially when working in the production and laboratory areas.
