Do you remember when therewas a Wadesboro High School,Ansonville High School, BurnsvilleHigh School, Lilesville High School,Morven High School, Peachland HighSchool and Polkton High School?Then, remember the consolidationprogram which named the remainingschools Bowman High School andAnson Junior High?

Well this is a picture of thesign I did at the Junior High onDecember 8, 1980, with the EagleMascot.

It was back in the days whenDon Scott, Don King and others wereon the coaching staff. How times havechanged during the past few years.Today none of the above listed highschools are there as such!

Christmastime Tour of Homes is December 2

Need some inspiration to get in the Christmas spirit?Make plans to attend the Uptown Wadesboro 2012 ChristmasTour of Homes on Sunday, December 2, from 4 to 7 p.m.The tour takes place after a concert by the Anson Singers,held at the First Methodist Church from 3 to 4 p.m.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Anson CountyChamber of Commerce, Buff Monkey Fitness, FancyCrafts, Lacy’s and Wadesboro Town Hall. The cost is $10per ticket, with the proceeds going toward UptownWadesboro yearly projects.

Included in the ticket price is the Red Hill Quartet who willsing at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Plank Road Realty foyer.This local group will impress you with their beautiful voices.

If you forget to purchase early tickets, Wadesboro TownHall will be selling tickets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the day ofthe tour. Many stores will also be open uptown for yourshopping convenience during the tour times of 4 to 7 p.m.Make sure you check the brochure for the list of the storesthat are participating.

Motorcycle Ride for Toys for TotsThe Toys For Tots Christmas Motorcycle Ride for

Anson County will be held at Centenary A.M.E. ZionChurch in Lilesville on Friday, December 7th, beginning10:30 a.m. with registration.

Austin Herms Completes Marine Recruit Training

On November 2 PFC Austin J. Herms, graduated fromMarine Corp Recruit Depot atParris Island, SC. He is nowat Camp Lejeune, NC forMarine Combat Training, andleaves for TwentyNine Palmsafter the MCT is complete.At TwentyNine Palms Hermswill work on his MilitaryOccupational Specialty (MOS)job training to continue in hismilitary career.

Herms graduated fromAnson New Tech HighSchool this past June. Hisparents are Susan and DanielArmstrong and Tim andRegina Herms.

Entries Invited forChristmas Parade

Plans are underway for the2012 Christmas Parade,scheduled for 4 p.m. onThursday, December 6.

Entries are being accepted bythe Anson County Chamber ofCommerce at any timebetween now and November26. Floats, both professionallydesigned and homemade, areeligible for entry.
