    1 .) Prior to the manufacturing process,textiles were produced in the

    home, and excess sold for extra money .

    2 .) Most cloth was made from either wool ,cotton, or flax depending

    upon the era and location .3 .) By the end of 16th century,cotton was cultivated throughout the

    warmer region in asia & the america.

    4 .) In roman times ,wool ,linnen, and leather clothed the european

    population.

    5 .) cloth was produced in the home and the excess woven cloth was

    sold to Merchants called clothiers.

    6 .) Some of the cloth was made into clothes for people living in the

    same area and a large amount of cloth was exported.

    The process of making cloth depends slightly

    on the fibre being used , but there are three main steps :--

    PREPARATION OF FIBERS FOR SPINNING.

    SPINNING.

    WEAVING OR KNITTING.

    1. Lakshmi mill was established in the year 1910 by the visionary and

    pioneer late g kuppuswamy naidu.

    2. The lakshmi mill has contributed to the development of the industry

    in general in tamil naidu and in particular in coimbatore district by

    promoting self reliance , research, import.

    3. The Company celebrated its Golden Jubilee, Diamond Jubilee and

    Platinum Jubilee and is now working through the centenary year.

    4. Lakshmi Mills Company is a major textile yarn and cloth

    manufacturer in Coimbatore, India. The company was established

    by G.Kuppuswamy Naidu in 1910.

    5. It has three composite textile units in Coimbatore, Palladam

    and Kovilpatti.

    6. The unit in Coimbatore in Papanaickenpalayam is also a well

    known landmark.

    7. The promoters of the mill were also instrumental in starting

    various textile machinery companies notably LMW andeducational institutions.

    8. The Company has the following 2 Units to manufacture 100%

    Cotton Yarns, Blended Yarns and Yarns produced out of specialfibers like Modal, X-Static, Tence

    Unit Spindles:--

    With an increase in per capita consumption from 19 metres to 3

    metres, the domestic market of lakshmi mills potential would be US

    $40 billion.

    With a 6 percent share in global textile trade, exports would comprise

    the remaining US $40 billion.

    Nearly 60 per cent of the exports would comprise garments.

    Continue to pursue reforms in the power sector at a faster pace.

    Re-orient TUFS scheme to provide targeted subsidy for the processing

    and weaving sectors.

    The Company sells Grey and Processed Fabrics for Export as well as forLocal Market by outsourcing under the brand Lakshmi.

    INDIAN SOIL SHIRTS:

    Indian Soil Ready Made formal Shirts made out of 100% Cotton in

    Bleached and in excellent pastel colors .

    The Company is in the process of marketing X-Static/Cotton fabrics for

    hospital .

    1. Micro Tencel yarn, Tencel/Cotton Blended yarn in counts NE 30s to

    100s and X-Static Yarns in counts NE 20s to 40s.

    2. The range includes Single and Doubled yarns for knitting andweaving both for domestic and export markets.

    3. Polyester Cotton Blended Yarns both Combed and Karded in NE 45s

    to 80s for Weaving and Knitting.

    4. The Company sells its yarns to Customers at SEZ, Garment

    Exporters, Bhiwandi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata , Weavers in Tamil Nadu /

    2. India is rich in highly trained manpower. The country has a

    huge advantage due to lower wage rates.

    3. India is highly competitive in spinning sector and haspresence in almost all processes of the value chain
