Heavenly Father, thank you for the precious gift of life.

Help us to cherish and protect this gift, even in the midst of fear,

pain, and suffering. Give us love for all people,

especially the most vulnerable, and help us bear witness to the

Letter From The Pastor

Prayers

Dear Parishioners, October is the month when we honor our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of the Rosary. I encourage you to grow in your devotion to Our Lady by reciting the Holy Rosary everyday. By meditating upon the various mysteries, we are drawn into the mercy of salvation history. Check the bulletin for information about the America Needs Fatima Rosary Crusade which our parish will join on Saturday, October 10. The international 40 Days for Life campaign to end abortion is well underway. It is a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion. It draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program: prayer and fasting; constant vigil and community outreach. You can pray any day outside of the abortion clinic on Fletcher Avenue in Tampa to join in the initiative, however, I invite you to participate in a special way on the three days our parish is asked to provide participants. You can sign up via the kiosk in the church narthex or at the parish office. Please pray for the priests of the Diocese of St. Petersburg who will be on their annual convocation with Bishop Lynch this week. He has mandated that all priests attend and any parish liturgical services be suspended. Therefore, there will be no daily Mass, October 6 -8 and no Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on October 7. The church will be open during regular hours for prayer. During these few days, there be no priest available for sacramental ministry. Lastly, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4, there will be a blessing of animals on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in front of the statue of St. Francis outside of the church. During his visit to the United States, Pope Francis reiterated the interconnectedness of all of God’s creation. We ask him to blessed our beloved pets and thank him for the companionship they provide. May the Lord bless you and your families through the intercession of our Blessed Mother - Father Kovanis

A Short Guide to Praying as a Family: Growing Together in Faith and Love Each Day

This wonderful little book provides a simple and easy-to-implement plan for family prayer. Arranged successively according to the basic stages of prayer, A Short Guide to Praying as a Family allows each family to progress step by step from one level of prayer to the

next.

Have you ever thought: There’s something missing in my life style? I feel an urge to grow as a Catholic person? St. Francis of Assisi realized that not all people could leave the world to become religious brothers, sisters or priests. So in the year 1221 St. Francis established The Secular Franciscan Order, so that people who are single, married, or widowed, could participate in a religious order, while still following their vocation to live a holy life “in the world”.Through the centuries since St. Francis walked the hills of Assisi, the Secular Franciscan Order has flourished in nearly every country in the world. We have an active fraternity here in our own area. The San Damiano Fraternity includes members from several local churches, including our own Prince of Peace, and meets monthly at the Conesa Center. The feast day of St. Francis is October 4. Contact Pat Wolfert at 813-732-4171 for more information.
