LPRESENTATION FOR THE DANISH DESIGN COUNCIL, MARTS 2015

LAUNCH NORDIC & CIRCULAR ECONOMY

LAUNCH NORDIC IS A GLOBAL INNOVATION PLATFORM BY:

IKEA, NOVOZYMES, KVADRAT, 3GF & THE DANISH MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT, VINNOVA, REGION SKÅNE, MALMØ STAD, THE CAPITAL REGION OF DENMARK AND THE FUND FOR GREEN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

In collaboration with LAUNCH Founders: NASA, NIKE, USAID & U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE

50% of emmission

Nearly half of the total IKEA carbon emission – 15 mio. tons – are originating from the raw material we use.

CO2

Only 1% of plastic is bio-basedOnly 1 percent of all plastics produced in society today are bio-based plastics – this out of a total global plastic production of 8 tones pr. second!

P

750 mio.

750 mio. people do not have access to fresh drinking water. Farming, dyeing and manufacturing of materials are all water intensive processes.

Hazardous chemical

Hazardous Chemicals still exists in products and materials we use in our every day life.

We need to collaborate

To transform the making of materials we need to collaborate to overcome systemic roadblocks and scaling of new sustainable innovations.

LAUNCH NORDIC IS A GLOBAL INNOVATION PLATFORM BY:

LAUNCH NORDIC IS A GLOBAL INNOVATION PLATFORM SCALING DISRUPTIVE INNOVATIONS IN MATERIALS

LAUNCH NORDIC UNITES GLOBAL INDUSTRY, PUBLIC ORGANISATIONS AND REGIONAL INNOVATORS

LAUNCH NORDIC IS MADE IN COLLABORATION WITH LAUNCH FOUNDERS: NASA, NIKE, USAID & U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE

LAUNCH NORDIC PARTNERS

LAUNCH NORDIC GOALS:

1. ENGAGE THE SYSTEM IN GREENING THE VALUE CHAIN OF MATERIALS

2. HELP FORM PRECOMPETITIVE INDUSTRY COLLABORATIONS TO DRIVE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

LAUNCH SYSTEM MAP 2014

THE LAUNCH NORDIC INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2014 CALLED FOR INNOVATIONS WITHIN TEXTILES, FABRICS AND FIBERS

LAUNCH NORDIC INNOVATORS 2014

WE MATCH THE SELECTED INNOVATORS WITH 30 KEY INDUSTRY PLAYERS, INVESTORS, TOP ACADEMIA AND GOV. OFFICIALS TO HELP THEM SCALE THEIR INNOVATION GLOBALLY.

WE WORK WITH THE GLOBAL GREEN GROWTH FORUM (3GF) ALLOWING THE BEST OF OUR INNOVATORS TO PRESENT THEIR INNOVATION TO LEADING CEO’S AND SVP’S FROM RELEVANT COMPANIES PIONEERING GREEN GROWTH

DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION FESTIVAL LAUNCH NORDIC COLLABORATES WITH THE ELLEN MACARTHUR FOUNDATION IN SCOUTING FOR DISRUPTIVE INNOVATIONS INTERNATIONALLY, AND TO SHOWCASE AND SCALE THE BEST ONES.

NEW MATERIALS & FEEDSTOCKLAUNCH NORDIC THEME 2015

HOW CAN WE THROUGH ALTERNATIVE FEEDSTOCK AND NEW TYPES OF MATERIALS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE SUSTAINABILITY THROUGHOUT

PRODUCTION, MANUFACTURING, USE AND RECYCLING.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR TRANSFORMATIVE INNOVATIONS WITHIN ALL TYPES OF MATERIALS IN THE THINGS WE WEAR, OUR FURNITURE AND DURABLE

HOUSEHOLD GOODS (NOT ELECTRONICS).
