It’s very important that Insurers and Underwriters document as-is condition following an accident of disaster.
Laser Scanning is able to capture the real world environment accurately, efficiently and in high detail enabling safe and rapid data collection as evidence of scope of damage, before demolition begins.
In addition the same data is used by engineering to aid in as-is conditions for the rebuild design and construction planning phases.
Increasing first time fit and minimizing rework.
Multiple scans were taken of the damaged area and registered together. The screenshot below shows the Scan Cloud in LFM Server which can be directly
imported to all the main 3D design engineering formats: PDS SmartPlant, PDMS, Autocad, CADWorx, …etc
Imager 5006 Laser scanner
Fire Damaged Building
The source of the explosion was scanned with the surrounding structure to document thecondition of the plant beforedemolition.
Scan data can be isolated and highlighted to precisely locate specific information.
The scan data is registered to plant coordinates so that any element can be precisely located. Below is the fractured weld and the crater created by the explosion. This data is 1:1 scale and can be fully dimensioned from any point to point.

Designers can identify and locate existing tie points as they plan the rebuild.
Underwriters can document as-is conditions before demolition destroys critical evidence.
In high resolution, the scan data is able to capture cracks and deformities as a record of the actual condition of equipment and machinery as a result of an incident.
Undamaged areas can also be scanned where tie points are required for reconnection as part of the rebuild / upgrade.
As-built or As-is Modeling
From The Point Cloud Data, 3D As-Built Models Can Be Created, And Converted To PDS, SmartPlant Review, AutoCAD, PDMS, …Etc
Fully Detailed And Accurate As-Built / As-Is Model Generated From Laser Scan Data Only.
Direct Import Of Point Cloud Data
Points imported directly into the design software: SmartPlant 3D / Review, PDMS, PDS, Microstation, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NX, Catia v5, …etc.
