REPORT: The victim reported this laptop stolen from a vehicle in December, but it did not connect to the Internet until January. The connection was brief and the location was not identified at that time. It was not until March of the following year that the laptop went online and Absolute LoJack was able to begin tracking the signal. The Absolute Investigations team used sophisticated forensic tools to identify the suspected user and location. The local police department that received the case was unable to help at that time, so a detective in the neighboring jurisdiction where the laptop was believe to be located agreed to secure the recovery. As expected, the laptop was obtained from the suspect and returned to the victim.
