Students from around the world come to Ottawa’s Young People’s Language School to improve their English language skills. Young People’s Language School off ers students the academic and cultural knowledge needed for success. Students go on to public and private schools across Canada and universities and colleges around the world, confi dent that they have the language skills necessary to succeed.

Highly qualifi ed instructors provide students excep-tional English language training, cultural orientation and academic preparation. Th ey also assist with test preparation and application for placement in schools, universities and colleges. Th e affi liation between Young People’s Language School and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board ensures that high school candi-dates receive precisely the skills needed to succeed in high school, college or university.

For high school candidates, our school off ers an academ-ically oriented English language program designed to prepare students for further studies in English. Th e school has a balanced focus on the key language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—as well as a strong grounding in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

For university candidates, Young People’s Language School off ers a recognized university foundation program. Students communicate in the English language in school and at home. Studies include lectures, seminars, tutorials, group work, class discussions and presentations.

Regular assessments, assignments, teacher feedback and examinations help students develop skills and gain confi dence. Th e program gives international students the skills and knowledge they need to enrol in and succeed at English-speaking colleges and universities.
